Nostalgia! My man Jeff Gordon nearly won Indianapolis and the Bristol night race. Jimmie Johnson nearly won the second Martinsville race. Kyle and Kurt had a temper in 2011. Tony Stewart beat Carl Edwards for the championship. And Trevor Bayne won his only Cup race at the Great American race.
It's said that there is so little coverage on this series. I don't know what happened to Gforcetv covering this awesome series. Great job spotter, people don't realize how much is going on for those the drivers. Great race.
I will always remember this race. Trevor Bayne won as a rookie. My mom died on February 21 2011 so this really got to me. It was a HARD month and THIS made me happy. My brother in law and my brother use to race stock cars in the 70's in California so I had been to LOTS of races just not Nascar. My brother use to go to the ones he could. My brother had been through a terrible fire when he was 19. He started finally being able to recover after MANY surgeries and he became interested in racing due to my brother in law and he loved it. He turned 21 while he was racing. He had a car #21 - 1963 Ford Galaxy painted orange. He loved that car. Anyway, for LOTS of reasons this got to me. Was a very exciting finish.
@@Sean86676 thank you. I do tend to write too much in comments 😆. When I remembering the past I tend to write even more. When I watched that race it really triggered with me especially because #1 Bayne only 20 and his car was the number 21 which reminded me of my brother's race car (who had started racing at age 19). #2 The next day, the 21st, my mother passed away. #3 I loved watching races and especially underdog races. Another thing about that year is my first grandchild was born a few months later and my mother's last words (she was in/out of consciousness suffering from Lewy Body dementia ( I even HATE the terms so much) and she had been fighting it for a long time. I went to see her and told her I was going to be a Grandmother and I acted very excited about it (I always tried to do that). She was pretty much unconscious but she whispered "really?" and I said "yes mama can you believe it?" I then asked her if she thought the baby would be a boy or girl (she had been known to predict that) after a few times of me asking she said "a girl." Those were her last words to me before she died. Bitter sweet but I am SO glad I got the the chance to tell her. My beautiful FEMALE grandbaby was born a few months later and she is So special to me to this day and always will be no matter what. I felt like she put light back into my heart. See, I just did it again! Writing too much. That's what happens when you get older and are sentimental anyway. 😁 Have a good week. 👍👍
I always why Labonte went up high as Edwards was coming through. Did he think if he stayed down low that Edwards was carrying enough steam that he would've hit Labonte so hard that it wrecked him?
Edwards was glued right on that yellow line. While pushing Bayne, Labonte had to pull out just slightly so his car could get air to the radiator. Labonte pulled up just high enough where Edwards was able to squeeze in there, and then Bayne was able to go down to that yellow line and block Edwards. It was actually great driving by Bayne because he was able to use Labonte as a pick because if Labonte didn't hold on next to Edwards as long as he did, Edwards would have had enough momentum to pass Bayne on the outside to win the race.
This video reminded me of that horrible "Car of Tomorrow" pair-racing thing we were doing. I hated that so much, it ruined restrictor plate racing for a few years.
“Its all you buddy its all you.” “You kidding me!?” I love this. He like an excited kid at Christmas getting the exact toy they wanted. I know that emotion he felt and i was smiling hearing it. Such a good win.
As im watching this once again, as I had for years despite hating the modern version NASCAR since NASCAR became a disgrace in early 2018... im a 20 YEAR OLD in 2023 watching my much happier days of 2011/2012, before I started watching NASCAR on live TV around 2014/2015 When someone in 2011 who is the age I am right now in 2023, 20 years old, won the DAYTONA 500 in a shock upset with wild 2 car tandem drafting for the #21 BABY!!!! Trevor Bayne 2011 Daytona 500 champion using the tandem draft NASCAR could have brought back for a smaller track like Atlanta while Daytona and Dega uses exciting pack racing. One of the biggest upsets in NASCAR history, most likely before NASCAR even became rigged, dumb, full of gimmicks, and no longer lean conservative since im a lean conservative. Trying to rig races to recreate genuine SHOCK upsets rigging races like Buescher 2016 Pocono, HUGE SHOCK Haley 2019 Daytona summer, plus rigging McDowell somehow winning TWICE for FRONT ROW MOTORSPORTS in 3 years by 2023 similar to 2013 Talladega Dave Ragan, and ( is he dutch? ) SVG 2023 Chicago. However.. just imagine 2011 Daytona 500 champion 20 year old Trevor Bayne ( Bayne is 32 years old now ) with 2023 object racing champion, 20 year old ( in 2023 ), me Cole Coibi 🇺🇸🏁🚙🎱🌎
I was at the Houston Airport when this race finished. I wasn't close to the TV, and all I saw was a red and white Ford doing donuts, and I got really excited because I thought it was Terry Labonte who had won. I had forgotten that the Wood's had went back to their old scheme, as I was still used to the solid red that Bill Elliott ran
