I can be a good business if you work it hard and do it the right way. It can also be an easy way to lose everything you own. It’s not a get rich quick business for sure
Any machine is going to require a good bit of maintenance. We spend an hour or two per day between greasing, cleaning, checking fluids and sharpening blades.
This one was 2.5 acres it took us 2 full days. We took down maybe 40 trees 4-6” but most of it was under brush and a lot of hand work trimming limbs and pulling vines
I appreciate the comment... first I take all the stumps to the ground... this requires getting in the dirt some. Second is most of what your are seeing is chips. The mulch was 6-8” deep throughout the site. We get around 80 hours out of a set and we leave a great finish. Not changing my method but thank you for the comment
@@oaklakelandclearing2698 im running a wheel machine that i use on my own property with a extreme bushing style mower .thinking about something new as getting stuck with wheels is getting really old .
@@oaklakelandclearing2698 i run a gel 7810 with a cid extreme mid flow running 29 gpm... I cuts great but not good in soft ground heavy ma hine ..considering steel tracks but have been told the cause issues as well.
I would be lying to say I wasn’t a little concerned myself. We wouldn’t have parked that close to where we were working but there was nowhere else to park. Luckily it worked out. Also as a rule you don’t want to be direct in front or directly behind the machine. You don’t usually get much of anything slinging off the sides
Great job. I would love to get into forestry mulching. How's the ASV 75 working for you? It looks like it spins that 150 well. Any advice on starting up a small mulching business?
The 75 was ok we traded it in for a 120 and are much happier. There’s no comparison between the production of the 120 over the 75. I would just be cautious of getting in the business. It takes a ton of money to get started between equipment, maintenance, repairs, liability insurance, equipment insurance, vehicles etc... there is a lot of people In the business right now and not a whole lot of work to spread around. It can be tough way to make a living
@@oaklakelandclearing2698 Well at least in your part of the country... Up in Idaho guys are booked out 3 months already ... there aren't enough guys to do the work!
We ended up clearing a total of 3.6 acres here. There will be a home site on the property. There are some trees that we will be removing where the home will be built
Love the video and the different camera views. You do excellent work. One suggestion is using a tripod around the mulcher for safety reasons when filming from the ground level. Also the hand work time-lapse was spot on. But I think you got things pretty much covered. Just subscribed and waiting for more videos as your channel grows.
@@oaklakelandclearing2698 Hey Im curious as to why you would say that... I thought the Lamtracs were the golden goose or is the Primatech the way to go??/
Apparently a lot of problems with the undercarriage on the lamtrac and from what I hear the problems aren’t worked out. I do think the concept of the lamtrac is awesome if it would hold up. Our next purchase is going to be a primetech 175 or cmi 175
@@oaklakelandclearing2698 Ah. Thank you for that! VBelt and Sons just rented a PT300 and he was in awe of that monster... I gotta start smaller with an ASV120F but hope I grow up to be like you guys! Keep em coming sir!
The asv 120 is a beast for a skid steer. We do mostly residential work and is the absolute best all around machine in my opinion. You can’t go wrong with it! And thank you look forward to putting more videos out! Would love some input on the type content that you would like to see
