After seeing what this genius can play, it's very hard for me to believe that he couldn't handle an average Dream Theater riff. That whole thing was completely rigged from the start.
Gergo, thank you for mentioning John Blackwell. I knew him personally and was able to hang out with him a lot and he was an incredible drummer and pocket player who could blow your mind with fast chops too. He always played to the music, just like you do. That's what I appreciate about your playing and the decisions that you make in a song. Thanks, Gergo! You're the best!
not like gorguts really need to realease new material if all has been said by Luc and Co., they are legends and their work speaks for itself, but damn some new Gorguts would be such a treat!
Great talk! I am a guitarist and I don't know anything about playing drums, but I think you can learn a lot from musicians like Alex. He's absolutely phenomenal.

I was helping out a friend who was providing and tuning pianos for the Hamburg Jazz Festival a while ago. A trad trio played an OK set and were followed up by a band with a drummer who played like Gergő. About a minute into the first number, at least half the crowd left. That for me was the sign of a challenging musician who knew how to take risks and would confront people with drumming that is anything but 08/15. So happy to see this interview as he is a very inspirational musician.
Awesome to hear him praising PANTERA! Would love to hear him play in that heavy groovy metal context someday, he would crush it. Maybe he has in the past??
well, I almost did it -- I even was backstage with him!
