Great breakdown! And amazing job on the animation! 🤩 Blender and Nuke are still completely un-intuitive for me and seeing such huge node trees is simply overwhelming XD
Someone uploaded a pack of all maps until 6.2 to nexusmods which I used to mix some things together. The first area is just the ruins in southern Thanalan where the sunken temple of Qarn dungeon is. The second area is the last area of the first stormblood alliance raid but I modified the postions of the pillars and also added some structures from the second Heavensward alliance raids. And thew last area is the final boss stage from Sohm Al (Hard) with some added crystals from the drowned city of Skalla (I already used them in the background earlier)
I... still think about Emet's story on occasion. How such a tragic villain, capable of the most horrible atrocities could be so... understandable... His people are gone. His friends are dead. He longs for their return -- it's within REACH and we KEEP STOPPING HIM... at every turn. No matter what he does, we are always there to ensure that the people he knew and loved will remain dead and forgotten... to all but him and the few Ascians still alive... He constructed Amaurot to honor their memory, and though consistently drawn to it -- a last bastion of what he once had -- it still is a constant reminder of the grief, sorrow, and everlasting torment he has endured and WILL endure until his work is done. And he continues to work; he fights for the lives of his friends... just the same as he WoL. And... it's a damn shame we could never convince him that their memories live on in us all... every creature roaming the plains, the flora themselves... the rock formations and all. The Ascians souls were split into the many reflections of the Source, but... there are yet still glimmerings shining through of the soul's true nature every now and then. If only he could have appreciated those reflections as descendants instead of false copies... Perhaps then we could have been his friend. All he wanted was his friends. I could never blame a man tearing worlds apart to have them back... Never.
I know i'm late to the party, But I finished shadowbringers and endwalker over the past couple weeks. I saw this animation a couple years ago when you released it, and I thought it was really cool. But I come back to it now with the context of the scene and it breaks my heart. You did a wonderful job at portraying Emet as the broken man he is, and his struggle to cope with his memories. Thank you for making this lovely, yet pain inducing piece of fanart.
Back when I saw Amaurot in the cutscene where my WOL and her companion set foot in Amaurot and gasped in awe, me too mesmerized by the view of it. But when the music began I felt like something's tragic happened here and I felt like I didn't wanna take a step forward and wanna know further
Pfft. Could work with any number of product placements. XD It's also really cool getting to see some of these moments with improved model textures. Can't wait to see them in the official game when the graphics update gets to them.
I like how the WoL themselves is surprised, like they pulled out azems crystal and some eldritch entity swapped it out for a cerveza cristal in the split second they werent looking
