What time of year are they ready? I’m currently trying to collect some seeds but don’t know when
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788 18 дней назад
They are in bloom right now so give it a good two months minimum. They take a really long time

Thanks for the vid, been dying to figure our how to grow them, also in my experience you can hold the stem Connecting to the bean pod and clip it with your thumb, it won't go off until it's in a jar or bag, helps contain it

you are correct humans and animals should not try to eat it. Here is one of the resources I use to see: plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/ageratina-altissima/

I use it as a native ground cover. There might be also some edible properties I am not aware of.

Thanks for the videos - very helpful! Have you found any one method (pots vs. clamshells vs. juice bottles) to be more effective than the others?
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788 7 месяцев назад
Thank you. The mini green houses, with the recycled jugs, is the most effective method.

It's the one species we didn't bother to collect since they seed so well. There may still be some viable ones kicking around so if we find 'em we'll set some aside. @@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788

Thanks for this. I purchased a tiiiiiiiny seedling from Jardin Fletcher in June and it's become a shrub. Is it best to sow them directly into the ground in May, or sprout them first?
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788 9 месяцев назад
How big is it? If it’s too small I would bury the pot in the ground. Then one it’s bigger, I would transplant outside the pot

@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788 9 месяцев назад
Agreed, germination rates is kind of hit or miss so I recommend sowing a lot of them. Sometimes when plants produce a lot of seeds, maybe it’s because it’s seeds are not the most viable so it opts for quantity instead of quality

Do these need lids or do they go out with just the screen on top?
@ottawawildflowerseedlibrar8788
Lids and screens are not a must. They just help prevent squirrels from digging, and wind from dispersing the seeds
