In general I must say that our houses are much safer regarding fire than local buildings of stone and wood because of the finishing quality of our wood, which does not pickup fire so easily. Other than that you do the same as in any other building - you take care. Given furniture, beds, carpets, clothes, cupboards, rags and all, fire risk is the same in any modern building - maybe even less in our wooden buildings, because you don't need carpet to cover any cement.
Remote area is ideal for wooden houses because of less material required and thus less transportation cost. If you do all the calculations, timber type construction usually costs less than RCC in remote areas.
We generally plan for 100 years if you do some maintenance as needed. Especially the roof needs to be kept in order. In Europe companies build with an expected lifetime of 300 to 500 years. Of course there are wooden houses (in Europe and Japan) much older than that.
It depends on how you calculate. I think from a professional quality all inclusive service perspective our wooden houses are about same price in urban areas and slightly cheaper in rural areas due to lower transportation costs.
that is why RCC buildings will cost much more than timber structures in rural areas. I was implying a cost comparison to RCC without explicitly stating it since it was part of your original question.
Cost is around 55 to 65 lakh, the complete project time is around 7 months which includes planning, material preparation and actual construction - all inclusive.
Cost very much depends on the design and finishing quality. We have a cost estimation tool available online at www.prabidhi.net/tools/house-estimate.html
I don't know, I don't think you can build actually permanent buildings easily with bamboo available in Nepal. It would probably require a lot of unusual technology, and given that even normal technology for wooden structures is hard to find in Nepal I can't imagine bamboo to be used as the main construction material for high quality finishing and lasting buildings of reasonable size in Nepal for the near future. But of course I am not an expert in this, just my observation.

We build for a durability of 50-100 years under conditions in Nepal (Earthquake, rain, ...). With good maintenance our buildings can last longer than that and in Austria (Europe) wooden houses are built with a durability of 300 to 500 years (despite heavy snow, rain all year round and so on), just to give you an idea of general lifetime of wooden buildings. Most of the palaces and temples in Nepal actually have a wooden structure and are quite old as well. It is just that modern people in Nepal "forgot" how to use timber construction technology properly.
You can go to our website at www.prabidhi.net where you can also find a form to contact us. We can then explore the possibility of making a wooden house for you.
We have already completed a lot of construction projects near Pokhara and Kathmandu if you want to look at samples. There is also a project going on in Chitwan, near Baratpur.
