Almost no information and yet just the right amount of information. Exactly what I needed. Mainly needed the nudge to do it. Already bought a sink & pump. Now convinced to scrounge up a countertop and put it on a bench that's gathering too much junk. Can just put plywood over so the bench is bisexual.
It’s fun to fix them up and resale them when I feel like it But I buy all the time and take to farm for storage out of weather I will work on 4/5 at a time as I feel like it In winter I rebuilt the carburetor that I’ve replaced with new ones and label with engine and hp plus model and brand
Good video on what you did to bring that mower back to operational condition. In educating myself on mower flipping, I have learned if the mower needs a seat, then it better not hardly need anything else Lol. I just rehabbed a JD SX85 and a new seat for $123 off EBay was my biggest upfront expense followed by a new battery, ignition switch, and two front tires. I paid $50 for the mower and put $400 in parts into it. Currently working on 2 x Snapper ZTs I got for $500 for the pair; one runs the other can be made to run. Fixing the neglected maintenance on the one that runs and then will be planning to flip the non-running one. The running one needs a seat ($180 on EBay) and the deck spindles rebuilt but otherwise a solid running machine:-) with new seat and deck parts needed, will be into it $350ish plus the $250 for the mower itself which I am okay with that.
Hey chance I am a new subscriber. Where are you in the US? I ma in Pa and I was a chemical engineer and I worked for big Pharma. 18 months ago I was run over on my antique Harley and nearly had my right leg crushed off. I decided I really wanted to be a small engine mechanic . I am so happy I found your channel.
Instead of everybody making a stroker if I remember right the stroke is less grab a 332 crank and put it in there and make it rev a little better make something unusual for a change instead of everybody making a stroker motor
Back in the Kunitz Kraft days, they sold stroker kit for the FE’s that used the spot face rod bolt 351M connecting rods. Off set grinding rod mains to 2.311” …. & they use the FE wrist pin size of .975 . So use off shelf FE pistons
@@taylorsutherland6973 We had a 330 in our 64 Ford 2 ton truck. Randomly it would break apushrod. Just went down to our local Chrysler dealer and they had pushrods in stock. Try that with any car parts dealer in a major town. This was in a town of 1000 people.
If possible put on an aftermarket intake with a 600/650 CFM 4BBL. Unless you have a heavy right foot and are opening-up the secondary's, you will get better fuel economy compared to a 2BBL carb. Back in the day I remember people saying the 410 FE was a very smooth engine with loads of low end torque.
What type solvent did you use, kerosene or water base solvent. I have sink that I want to do the same thing you did. Thanks for the video and share with all that have watched.
Just rebuilt my FE at the beginning of this year, turned my 360 into a mild 390. Runs great now. Cool to see more FE stuff popping up on RU-vid! wasn't much up when I was doing my research.
I have a 67 352 that I’ve pulled the top end off Saturday and I’m going to pull it down because it was full of water and stuck but it was easy to clean the cylinders and spray WD40 and she came right unstuck. My 66 f100 short wide has the 240 in it and I’m going to swap it out after I do a rebuild.
Big shoutout from LA... looking forward to your build... My 15 year old son and I acquired a 66’ Fairlane 390.... always learning.... any Ford tips always welcomed!
Chance - Great Project. I highly recommend a stock 390 with a 2 bbl. Get electronic ignition and wingle exhaust. Plenty of smooth power to pull anything you and your family could hook up behind it for the next 50 years with power steering and AC. The most economical powerful way to go! C6 Automatic and helper springs.
Hi mate, Unless you change the crank to a 428 crank, that is 3.98 stroke you won't get a 410. @ 4.05 bore and your standard 3.50 stroke crank you have built yourself a 360. Also did you say you were going with 410 pistons? They have a different compression height, maybe from the pin height, I'm not sure. Can I ask what forged pistons you did get? Reason I ask is I have a 390 and was considering rebuilding to 410 Mercury as I have a 1968 Mercury Marquis Coupe and 410 piston choices are limited I'm told. Good luck with the build, Cheers from Australia.
