As someone who studies history a lot I can assure you slaves did not in fact build this country. Slavery was only prominent in one part of America, the South, which was rather agrarian and underdeveloped which caused for a Confederate loss in the American Civil War. The most slaves ever actually did was farm which is not building. If anything, Germans built America considering they built the backbone of American industry and provided much of the nations grain from places such as the former Northwestern Territory. Railroads were also heavily built by Chinese peasantry arriving on mass from the collapsing Manchu-led Qing Dynasty in China. Slavery only provided the nation with cotton and other cash crops. So no, the slaves did not build America, the immigrants did. Even in early America, pre-revolution, slavery was not as prominent as it was in the Caribbean islands such as Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, etc etc. Slavery was just a tool for America to be able to gain some money. This video is also pretty stupid considering that white people were also working during times of slavery and they're acting like the industries they are naming are manned by majority blacks. This video is also saying New England ship owners had slaves? New England had probably the least amount of slaves in the entirety of the Americas just due to the weather and geography in the North being more suited for fishing and timber industries.
That was a small amount of people in america before black slaves and it was essentially irrelevant in the grand scheme of things because the concept failed
Natives, and Irish immigrants: Am I a joke to you? Seriously, they wouldn't let indentured servants go, so they were slaves. Natives were enslaved just for being here first. I have some Irish ancestry, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if some were enslaved after immigrating. America was built on the backs of men who were sick of King George III's shit.
Slavery did build my country, kinda, it was mainly way between the aboriginal peoples of Australia and the british colonists. But hey guess what? We still good country
