One thing worth mentioning is that Brasil has the largest population of Afro descent outside of Africa. I lived in Brasil and speak Portugeuse, from my experience the Afro Spirit Religions are ubiquitous esp in places such as Rio de Janerio and of Course Bahia the center of Afro culture. Everywhere you look are signs of Camdomble or Umbana from shops selling artifacts for ceremonies to offerings such as chickens, tobacco and cachaca left ar crossroads in Rio before football games. If you know what you are looking at you can see it everywhere in most lanchenettes (cafe/bars) there are images of Sao Cosme e Damien with an aloe vera leaf, the very tasty Afro Brasilian food is often sold on the street with snacks such as Acaraje - fried bean fritters - sold by women in white known as Bahianas. Acaraje are known as acara in Nigeria amd are sold to children on their way to school in the morning, hence primary schools are nicknamed 'acara schools'.The first time I ever heard Yoruba spoken was in Brasil. Check out the worship of Yemanja the Yoruba Godess of the Sea 'Queen of the Fishes' in Rio on the 01st January 'o dia de Yenanja' there were 1,000,000 people on the beaches such as Copacabans and Ipanema making offerings to this deity. Although not involved in Vodou, I can still see how clips like yours are much needed to help for some to understand that difference doesn't necessarily boil down to being evil or diabolic. Even if the difference is an imposing one: it simply can be another expression of the divine that is scary only because of one's misundertanding of the terms that are used to communicate the message.
Great video and very interesting. I'm studying comparative mythology, the origins of ancient spiritual practices and similarities across numerous cultures. I'm fascinated by the universal themes, cosmological beliefs and the powers/ attributes/ archetypes that are represented in some way, by a pantheon of deities with each of them having an essential function for the spiritual life of the people. This is where we fell down as a global civilization (with the 'fall' in the garden of eden), as we were cut off from the deities and a vital connection to the power of the vital feminine. The feminine was demonized through the 'harlot' of Eve tempting Adam, the goddess was banished along with the feminine principle, leaving us spiritually impoverished and deprived of the life giving power of the Great Mother. It is always great to expand knowledge about as many ancient cosmologies and practices, find the commonalities, to hopefully cultivate a new form of spirituality. Reclaiming what was taken away from our ancestors, remembering the wisdom in our bones, and reviving the memories of the deities who have been there the whole time. As a person who comes from a country that's been destroyed by religious indoctrination and colonial oppression for centuries, I am learning all i can to connect with my ancient heritage and vast wisdom from intricate myths and storytelling 💫☀️ its also really encouraging to see the prominence of female priests and honouring their powers and abilities

This was very informative. I find it absolutely disgusting that the originators of rap music have gotten old and now become Trump supporters. After living the lives that they lived understanding what the black experiences were all about seeing with their own eyes that the Republicans have never cared or come to, talk to us let alone save or rescue us from poverty. And to have them turn on the community that supported them and made them rich is just the most disgusting experience of selfishness known to mankind. I will never support anybody who supports MAGA Republicans . And those ignorant people that think they got money from Trump during the pandemic when millions of our fell, Americans died, need to wake up and realize that it wasn’t Trump. It was the Democratic Congress that passed along those checks. They need to understand how government works. Congress, not the president approves the money and controls the purse strings so even though Trump‘s name was on the check the Democratic Congress gave those checks to the American people. Do you really think for a moment that Republicans would’ve gave us a dime?! How ignorant can these people be?

Do you know that when the Notre Dame burned down a few years ago, they used the Norte Dame cathedral in AC Unity as a model for its reconstruction?

Love home. Louisiana and Mississippi voodoo practitioners worship Lwa's or basically Saints in Catholicism. Voodoo is not devil worship. Voodoo is not Satanic. The part you are referencing describes how spirit possession is viewed different in Vodun/Voodoo and Catholicism. Vodun/Voodoo has nothing to do with the political state of Haiti or any other nation. BTW in Louisiana we have a Christian church on almost every street corner.
