Sailing Remission is Bart & Cindy Krotik's Sailing Journey Around the World. After my Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer Recovery we decided to Retire and Travel the World Aboard our New 2022 Fontaine Pajot Tanna 47 Catamaran. We would like to Share our Adventure with you through Video and the Opportunity for You to Join Us. Come along for the Ride.
What really sucks as we have so little wind that the Parasailor would be the Perfect Sail for the Crossing. Miss you guys and really sad that you have given up the Sailing Life...
I get that but why did he chase me? What I didn't mention is that right after a Plane Buzzed us at about 100 feet above our sail. I read later that these fisherman had been harassed by Green Peace in the past
Clickbait What pirates ? 2 vessels with AIS on are not going to be pirates You prefaced the beginning of your video stating you were in pirate waters, which you weee well past areas of concern but you had to continue to premise of pirates to make a video It just gives a bad and false impression to others
Did you even bother to watch the video?. It was my thoughts and reactions in real time, no editing out scenes. The "Chase Boat" did a 180 turn and headed directly on an intercept course. So did the 2nd boat. They turned off their AIS just after I turned mine off. Plus a few months prior to this another Sailboat WAS boarded by Pirates in the same area. Please in the future get your facts straight before you Criticize me or anybody, it's not appreciated.
Yes I did waste my time watching it You don’t know that they turned off AIS only that your VHF lost contact with the target which is common That fact that they turned does not indicate they were chasing you or were pirates only that that’s the course they needed to be on I have sailed that passage multiple times Do better research and have a better understanding of the potential vessels around you and the area you’re in before you jump into the pirate drama for views
If I had the money that I never needed to work and I could just do whatever I wanted I wouldn’t buy a 200 foot sailboat that’s absolutely for sure. It would probably be something around 45 to 55 feet cutter rig full keel skeg hung rudder set up for single handing
Fountaine Pajot Tanna 47. At 25' beam we didn't have much wiggle room. Worse yet was backing out against the wind and current. But she is safe and sound.
Personally when I see a boat like that my thought is "yuck". Not for me, give me a small (40ft-ish or less) that I can single hand and working class neighbours and I'll be happy. I hold no envy for them...I wouldn't buy a boat like that if I could. Imagine the pita it must be to get any work done or finding a place to lift you out etc..
@sailingremission9852 It's not just the cost but the complexity. Small sailboat owners progressively build the skills to fix everything themselves. At the other end of the scale, large commercial vessels might have a full time engineer, and still think nothing of flying specialists around the world to fix things. But what does a boat like this do? I have witnessed many couples give up cruising because they found their boat too complex or too expensive to maintain but I have never known a cruiser give up because their boat was too simple.
