Glad to hear there's hope! Thanks for sharing your story! My wife (29 years young, non smoker) has a non union. She has been suffering for the past 5 years. She had 3 surgeries. My question: Are there any tools to speed up the growth of the bone? Does anybody know some doctors who are specialized on such cases? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you for the great review. I am very nearly 60. . . and have been riding and have been riding from 16 (I think it was a Honda MT5). I never ridden a scooter? Due to arthritis legs aren't as flexible these days. . . As a result I have a Honda Hornet 750 twin 8 months old as new never ridden 0 miles. I think the ADV is the way forward. Thanks again, Andy.
Hey Andy, great to hear from you and very sorry to hear about the arthritis and impact on your riding. My mum had arthritis and I’m getting a bit in my hands so have a sense of what it’s like. You’ll know my right knee is pretty compromised these days but the ADV gave me a new lease of riding life plus it opened my eyes to a different way of approaching things. And the ease of use means it gets used all the time as opposed to “putting it off”. If you do get one you’ll be able to enjoy the places and people you did before and you’ll notice much more and get wherever you’re going comfortably and I guarantee it - just as quick as before. Let me know what you decide to do and thanks for your feedback Andy - much appreciated, cheers, Phil.
Hey Johnny, good to hear from you and that green, might be the best colour ever! Not that I’m biased or anything 😀 Great to know you’re enjoying it, cheers, Phil.
Good evening and thanks for stopping by and saved the best until last? Well, I totally agree with you there! Really good to know you’re enjoying the bike and that’s a lovely colour you’ve got 😀 All the best, cheers, Phil.
Hello..... I am looking at either an ADV350 or a Yamaha X max 300 for touring around Southeast Asia.. I am a Yamaha fan but some of the roads I will be on the ADV would be better suited to.. Since Yamaha don't make a ADV version of the X max... Looks like the ADV350 is the better option... "Suppose I can always paint it blue"... I live in Thailand half the year...
Hey Peter, you mean you spend 6 months of the year in a warmer place than the UK? With proper strength Singha on tap? And warm rain? I’m not jealous at all ! I’ve only ever bounced on the Xmax but it was the bike-style setup of the front forks (and bike style headstock setup) of the ADV, that drew me to it. It handles like a bike but whether that’s a good or bad thing, really depends on what you’re looking for. For me, the ADV will get me to most of the places I want to get to get to..While the XMax, no doubt do the same is probably more urban and city focused? Either way, both are going to be great for your needs! Cheers, Phil.
When you see a 5k sub channel with a 200k views video, that's a sign you're hitting above your weight. Your photography is amazing, the framing and color grading is top-notch. I have a V7 III as well and love the damn thing, even though it's turning me into a grease monkey day by day. Cheers from Spain!
Hey Manuel, that’s really nice of you to say - thanks so much! Even better, it’s so good to know you’re enjoying the V7 - what a brilliant motorcycle it is. Finally, MM93 - go Marc! And Jorge 😀 All the best, cheers, Phil.
Great review/video/presentation style Phil... subscribing straightaway. I stumbled across it while considering adding a CL to the stable, ie, K1600gt, RD400 and Blackbird (the latter about to be sold to make room). Also on my shortlist is the V7, which I really like, but my priority is being well suited to very bumpy lanes and B roads and I guess the CL is a better option for that. What do you think? Im 64 and quite a big chap and so far have no issues manhandling big bikes.
Good afternoon, great to hear from you & thanks very much for the sub - great to know you enjoyed the review! As for your question, having owned both bikes and enjoyed them both on back roads, there is a difference in that the V7 is so lovely and charming and “special” that you’ll treat it nicely - in the sense you probably won’t mess about in bad weather, gravel and puddles! Whereas with the CL you will!! From an objective perspective, both handle great, the Guzzi has slightly crashy suspension over bumps and the CL is a little mushy. Performance wise, both are very similar even if the delivery of that performance is completely different! There’s much more space on the V7 though, even though the seat height is low like the CL. If you’re big / tall it’s worth sitting on them, especially the CL to see where your knees end up! So I reckon if you fit the CL and want something to really mess about on in all weathers, then it’s the one. If it’s something special for dry bumpy roads and don’t mind crashy suspension, it’s the Guzzi! Hope that helps, cheers, Phil.
@@80eightReviews Thanks for taking the time for such an informative response Phil...really helpful and inspired me to go out and test ride a CL straight after! What a brilliant little bike....ticked all the boxes for me. As an exiled Geordie living in Peterborough, I was able to test the bike on the most atrocious of roads (over the fens...the most severe subsidence) and was amazed at how well it soaked up the bumps and pot holes, while still having great handling in the twisties. I found myself shooting off down an odd dirt track which it handled admirably. Performance was ample for my needs...I was surprised at how zippy it was. It also fit me perfectly - it had high, brown seat fitted which at first felt a bit hard, but I stopped noticing that after a short while. I could stand up pretty comfortably too, which enabled pretty quick progress over the worst of humps and bumps on the subsided lanes. Only negatives is the visibly of the instrument panel in sunlight and absence of a rev counter (which I like to have to see what's going on) but that did not detract too much. I also considered the new RE Bullet which I love the look of (in all black) but the peppiness and fun factor of the CL trumps it. Your conclusion is spot on....the CL looks to be the one for me...icing on the cakes is Honda have £500 off for the next few weeks. Was gonna test the Guzzi, but don't think I will bother....maybe a one to add to the stable at a later date! Thanks again and best wishes Phil, Paul
Hey Paul, that’s great news! I think the CL is almost like a proper “throwback” bike in terms of what you can do with it - tarmac, a bit of gravel, any weather, commuting, total reliability and you don’t have to be too precious about it! So you do more with it. And what you do with it is the important thing. Plus as it’s so easy to get out of the garage it will get used more. Compared to your other bikes also it will feel like a toy! Must admit, every time I go and look at a RE close up I can’t help but think they are a little bit shonky and are more a sunny Sunday ride only. I’ve now swapped my CL for a CRF Rally because I wanted to get back into green laning. That’s no indictment of the CL as it’s brilliant it’s just the CL made me realise what I’d been missing the last two years. The CL continues to be great VFM and as you say £500 off for a bike that will survive the apocalypse is amazing. Let me know how you get on Paul, all the best, Phil.
@@80eightReviews Hiya Phil....I pulled the trigger on a CL in green yesterday (pick up 17th June). I got a right result...after I noticed that some dealers were selling it cheaper than the local dealer (Wheels Peterborough) even with the £500 off, they did a search and matched the cheapest they could find, which resulted in a total of £900 off, ie a total of £5295 OTR (including 12 months tax). Pretty amazing value I reckon! Really happy to hear about the CRF... although I've only just come across the channel, I've become aware of your injured leg issue, so its great news that you are now able to manage such a bike. Thanks again for the great advice....and happy green laning! Paul
Great news Paul…and that is some deal! As for being an exiled Geordie…What did you do? Wander into Gateshead one day and decided you liked it 😀 ? Anyway, here’s hoping 17/06 is dry and warm, cheers, Phil.
I’ve had my V7 III for about two weeks! In my 50 plus years of riding and 60 plus bikes in that time this bike is one of the best! Super happy with it!
Hey Dan, great to hear from you! That's some record of bike experience and ownership you've got there - very impressive! Great to know you're enjoying the V7III though - they do have something very special about them don't they? Looks, sound, handling plus the need to think about how to get the best from (and that they don't like hasty downshifting) is just the perfect combination. I've now got a V7II and wow, it's brilliant! All the best, thanks for stopping by, cheers, Phil.
hello Phil, cbt guy here 60 years old and just bought my first bike/scooter. Honda forza 125cc, 120mpg, brill machine 75 to 80 mph. So many things to like about these scooters, storage, wind protection, comfort, twist and go etc etc etc
Hello @wantsomefries, how are you doing and great to hear from you. Yeah, you're so right, you can't really beat them can you, plus, they'll put up with so much abuse and will no doubt keep on running when dinosaurs are back roaming the earth again....Thanks for dropping by, all the best, cheers, Phil.
Hello, thanks for stopping by and that’s impressive mileage for any size of engine! The reason for my low mileage (although enough for a review I hope!) is that when I bought it, it was 14months on from a very bad bike accident (broken femur, knee in bits, collarbone, ribs, etc) followed by more surgery on the knee in July 2023. And I can only ride it for 2 hours at a time…Then that was followed by some horrible weather in the UK! I’ll make up for it though 😀 All the best, cheers, Phil.
I picked up one last week. Its a '95 model in mint condition. I've got a big field around my house that now has a few ruts carved into it with the Dominator's rear Metzler. Great fun on the country lanes too.
Hello Mr B.Raff - your own big field and a Dominator? That's just about perfect! I can almost hear it thumping around :-) Great bike, great sound and smell! All the best, safe riding, cheers, Phil.
Hi Phil, nice to hear your resume. I bought my ADV 350 used last summer and ride the Ducati Scrambler on the side (both after a long motor cycle orcycling break of over 15 years). However, like you, I have to say that riding this scooter is completely different and I discover a lot of things I've been driving past on my motorcycle for years. It is, as you already mentioned, a more conscious, more enjoyable driving. You said "floating" about it, which I absolutely underline. Even in my case in the Austrian Alps, where mountains, passes and their slopes are common, this can be done easily with around 30 HP. I'm glad you see it that way too. All the best with the new moped and always have a good trip. It's nice that you're keeping the ADV, I hope to see a few more videos with it and your jokes about it. Greetings from the foot of the Alps, near Vienna.
Hello KG, hope you're having a great weekend in The Alps...I'm quite jealous! I think the 'difference' point you make is exactly it - when I've been riding a bike for a while and then use the ADV (or vice-versa) it's just so different that it's actually just very refreshing. Then, given the ADV is all about making everything as easy as possible the 'floating' sense of calmness is just lovely. I do like a bit a bit of excitement every so often, but I guess it's like music - listening to 140 BPM techno all day without something more soothing would put a person in a very poor state of mind I think! Good to hear the ADV doesn't struggle with The Alps also, I really can't wit for my trip later this year now. All the best, cheers, Phil.
Hi Phil, nice video, like it. A good idea to use "miniature" mode...... I also have a RX100V, love if for it´s size and the high quality. Minus: didn´t find any reliable battery, use USB adapter now. I would like to ask if there is a build-in function for timelapse, as I just know they have HFR for slomo. Think you have had an external shutter control?
Hey Hans, thanks for dropping by and yes, the little RX100V remains a fabulous camera in its own right even before considering the size aspect. The video is great, even though it's 8-bit. Love it. The batteries though...Yes, I've pockets full of them! As for the timelapse I installed the Sony App on the camera (paid for which is a drag) but I'm not sure if it's available anymore as Sony stopped developing apps and whatever the app store was called a few years back I think. So yes, it's built-in but I'm not sure if there's any means of installing it anymore? Hope that helps (probably not), all the best, cheers, Phil.
@@80eightReviews Thanks Phil, I heard about that app (don´t mention "money" in conjunction with "sony".....), and furtheron, there was a "cracked" SW update available in 2018 only installable for the 1st original Sony-SW. Had an accident and a 400 buck repair, and the repair shop added the 2nd original Sony-SW. That "cracked" SW could not be installed anymore... why did Sony act so rude: with that "crack" you were able to record 4k for 30 minutes duration - that was fantastic those days!!! A friend has the new ZV2, and he ment not to have any battery issues, even not with cheap bulkware, no capacity / nor heat problems at 4K recording..... lucky guy! Got myself an adapter for timelapse, 15 bucks at ebay, matches to that USB = Sony Multifunction socket, identical on my A7III. It has: delayed start, intervall, overall pictures (and stopable remote-release button). Works well also (and use rechargeable batteries)!
Hey Hans, yes, those aftermarket interval / Timelapse gadgets are great and probably cheaper than whatever it was I paid for the app! I’m now using a GH6 and wow, it’s got a ton of useful stuff including a brilliant Timelapse facility - and a fan! All the best, Phil.
Usual informative review - thanks for the entertainment. I still wish Honda had built the little scrambler on the CB500 platform rather than the Rebel frame ie. twin discs up front, USD forks and bigger tank. That would have ticked the aesthetic and practicality boxes more firmly for me.
Thanks very much Jane, great to know you enjoyed the video. Yes, the CB500 platform could have been really nice as you say - I think there is a nice modernistic take on a traditional looking bike in there somewhere. The CB350 (which we don't get in Europe) could be a good base also. We can hope...All the best, cheers, Phil.
Hello! I think the air filter is accessed on the left hand side of the bike - under the left side panel and then there’s another cover on the side of the air box - take that off and that’s where the filter is. Hope that helps, cheers, Phil.
Had mine for 8 month's its fantastic value for money best mid size scooter, only found the the seat a bit uncomfortable but a air seat cured that and you are right regarding the CL500 i reckon the adv is quicker (after recent recent teast ride)
Thanks for dropping by David and I couldn’t agree more with respect to VFM. Personally I’m very happy with the seat but seats (both bikes and human ones) are quite particular 😀 All the best, cheers, Phil.
*UPDATED* i just got it for "turning into smoke" purpose only, but i will try out also *update: only thing i can say weird shape, like egg :D done so far just around 100km and im shocked with grip, tried to do burn out and cant do it, pops wheelie or front just slips, i know the problem in rural ireland roads they very rough, got 8500km from mitchelin road 6, but heard in other eu countries people get 15000km
Hello! Good to hear from you! To be honest, I can't remember much about the Maxxis tyres as it was so long ago, but yeah, they were a bit strange and I've never used them again so that probably says something! Good luck with turning them into smoke! Wish I could see that! All the best, cheers, Phil.
@@80eightReviews If i succeed to find some less rough road and away from "reporters" ill put video on my channel :D i think i got the last one, its made in 2021 and no more front like this, some newer model only st3
