If you compare this one and xperia 1 vi. Which has more natural photo and video picture? Which one has more pro settings for shooting? And which has better quality image?
I think I saw a fast sketch done on a Samsung device a few years ago - but this one is levels above compared to what was possible then. I'd been eyeing up a reMarkable 2 recently - this feels so much more versatile for the same price.
This is very nice, Basil. The mat screen is the way to go, and it seems to have the set up and screen colour balance spot on. I would say this is Wacom level based on what you demonstrated. Is Huawei now fully android compatible, or are there still issues with certain companies? Thanks 👍

@@tech_edit It can be a number of factors. Most reviews are payed, where things like that just not get covered on purpose or reviewer just doesn't have a basic knowledge. Secondly, it also could be just a faulty device, like when some reviewers complain on xperia 1 V bad soapy telephoto lens when zoomed in.
I have been drooling over this phone from the USA for a while now. Looking to jump over from iPhone, really disappointed with lack of meaningful progress from Apple. I have a Fuji XT-4 I love but just can't bring myself to drag it around with me, and I am constantly disappointed with iPhone 14 Pro shots. Would you say this realistically can replace a real camera for non-professional applications? I would be looking to buy this and sell both phone and Fuji.
might want to redo this whole thing again, 4.7 released a higher graphic setting and its granading Phones, my S21 Ultra can barely maintain 30 FPS now.
I have no experience with hearing aids so couldn't confirm, but I would say it depends on the kind of hearing aid. These headphones don't go in your ear, they hover outside it. So provided the loop doesn't interfere with the aid, it should be okay. I will put the question to Shokz though and let you know what they say. Basil
Adding to this, I got this respons from Shokz when I put the question to them: "It depends on the type of hearing aids, the headphones are ear-hook style and suitable to wear at the same time with hearing aids if there is space at ear. With Bluetooth, the headphones need to be paired with a device to play the music via Bluetooth. We would suggest you can contact the support team of the hearing aids to confirm the function. Moreover, there are plenty of retailers with in-store demos, we encourage you to give them a try. Kindly see the retailers here:uk.shokz.com/pages/retailers"
Noted! Briefly summarising what it would look like, the FreeClip are more of a fashion statement. Audio-wise, the Shokz have more depth and more consistent sound when both were in standard EQ, likely owing to the additional size. I love that the FreeClip case supports wireless charging, Shokz's case doesn't. Both are good for calls indoors, the Shokz OpenFit Air are better outdoors. Despite being smaller, the FreeClips have better battery life. Personally, I'd get the FreeClip if I liked how they look, but practically speaking, and for exercise, the OpenFit Air from Shokz gets my recommendation. Let me know if there are any questions in particular you want answered.
I live in Brazil and I got the Edge 50 Pro 12GB 256GB on an operator's plan. The price was relatively good compared to the price charged in the national market, as I paid practically 1/3 of what the device is worth in conventional stores. Finally, I found a great device for practically everything, especially for everyday work, when we need to use the device a lot for conversations, among other things. This is possible due to the fast charging, which in a short time makes it ready for long hours of screen time. Here, it charges from 10% to 100% in just under 20 minutes, which allows me to use it for 6 hours of screen time. Unfortunately, as mentioned in the video, the camera is disappointing. I have a young daughter and I can forget to take some pictures of her daily life due to the processing delay. Due to this problem, I was thinking of also getting the Edge 50 Ultra, since I have a discount on my plan and would keep the Edge 50 Pro as a secondary device for work and the Edge 50 Ultra for everyday use. However, I haven't seen any reviews between the two yet to know if there are any differences in camera mode. I believe that on this occasion I may end up getting an S24 Plus or Ultra, since I like to record family moments. My first disappointment with the Edge 50 Pro was precisely at a school presentation of my daughter, as I recorded in 1080/30 to try to avoid the problem and, even so, there were some small lags. I hope that in the future there will be software updates to fix this problem, as I believe that the processor can handle a simple camera app. All it takes is refinement and updates.
Stability is an under-rated feature. I nearly lost one of my XM4s on the Tube the other day, when it was packed and I got a backpack to the face. The Shokz would be perfect!
A huge thank you to Shokz for sponsoring this video. If you're thinking about picking up the OpenFit Air, by using this link: shokz.cc/4c5ygCI I may earn some commission to put towards future videos. Thanks for watching! Basil
love that its 1080p now, cant even tell the difference with a qhd display. Ill take compatibility and battery life over a higher res I cant even see anyday
Thanks for this excellent review but I wish Id seen it earlier. Yes, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra and the Vivo X100 Ultra are better and mainly, scratch proof!
The camera is very good quality but it has SERIOUS depth of field (area in focus) issues and a very poor dynamic range for this price. It also fares poorly in low light tests. It ranks 14 on the DXO Mark camera phone ratings and that's about right. And... how can it claim an IP68 rating when it has cheap tempered glass that gets easily scratched?! My Pixel 6 Pro had Gorilla Glass Victus and I found I could wipe it with my T shirt! You can't scratch Gorilla Glass Victus even if you try! Why have Xiaomi put cheap glass on their flagship phone?! I would have expected Gorilla Glass Victus II ! I expected better from Xiaomi who are known for good value products!
IP68 refers to dust and water, not display hardiness. Also, the camera has a photographic look that is more classical and less computational. I wasn't surprised by DXOMARK's tests knowing the parameters they test against. The Honor Magic 6 Pro ranked number one when they tested it, and it is not a better camera phone than either this or the OPPO Find X7 Ultra in my opinion, two phones that ranked lower. That's where we are with smartphones, there are many good ones, so it's important for potential customers to look at sample photos and see the aesthetic that aligns with their preferences. For me, the Pixel8 Pro, OPPO Find X7 Ultra and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are my top choices, ranging from computational through to more classical. Thanks for the point of view, nice to have some debate. Basil
I have to say you're pretty casual about the display glass scratching easily... this is the only deal breaker but it is a major deal breaker! And I feel cheated. My Pixel 6 Pro had Gorilla Glass Victus and it doesn't scratch. Period. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has Gorilla Glass Victus but this 14 Ultra, their flagship, comes with "Xiaomi Shield Glass" which is just fancy "Tempered Glass". I have had many phones over the years and I take great care to not scratch the glass but this one, in just 4 weeks, has scratches. I have never used a screen guard and I don't intend to start now. Besides, it's too late for that... their salesman know nothing about the phone and don't even suggest it when you buy. Don't buy this phone unless you're okay with a screen guard and I strongly suggest the first thing you do is put it on! I'm a pro photographer and I use a blow brush, ultra soft tissue etc but it still gets scratched. It has touched nothing but my jeans and sleeping shorts pockets... and my always clean thumb! This is nonsense at this price point! ₹1L and soft glass! Their cheap phones have Gorilla Glass!
Thanks for the comment. I hear your point and don't disagree it may be a deal-breaker for some. The reality is, I don't know the exact situation that resulted in the scratch, I checked with some peers, none of them found the screen particularly scratch prone, so the responsible thing I felt to do was communicate it scratched, but not get too outraged so anyone interested could make their own mind up with as much information as I had. I appreciate you drawing attention to it though, as it is important for people to consider before buying. Hopefully potential customers see your comment and make the most informed decision possible. Basil
For you, I would like to ask you when I turn on the mobile phone the screen but all the icons are black and white, I have looked in the settings but I have not succeeded in bringing them back to color. I go as you show in the start topic, I put the background dark, accent color red, nothing continues , black and white Do you know how I can reset them to their factory settings . Thanks
Super interesting to see there's still brands doing these types of phones for tradespeople. Thermal imaging is a really good shout to include in a rugged phone.
That totally depends on you. Professional tradespeople like plumbers and electricians could benefit from it, and I actually used it on my cat, it can help make sure an infection hasn't spread (on an animal or human), and also find where drafts are coming in through an opening in a window or door. That said, for many it won't be valuable, naturally. Hope that helped! Basil
Thanks for watching! Let me know what you think of the BlackView BL9000 Pro 5G. Some details of these chinese brands: Ulefone, Doogee, Oukitel, they are all the same. NO software support nor guarantee. You can buy an USB-C FLiR camera that is way better than this and you can buy a rugged case to any smartphone.
Thanks for the comment, I reference the limited software support at 13:18, but any additional context you can give for potential customers is greatly appreciated. Have a great day. Basil
Sony (1V and I guess 1VI) produces excelent (not overprocessed) Raw-Files that can be edited in Lightroom perfectly! You can raise the quality and details in the Sony Raws so much compared to their Jpgs. It is absolutely impressive. With Samsung S24u for example you get very bad Raws (Pro Mode and Expert Raw) because they are already highly processed and they are not real Raws, only processed Jpgs in a Raw-Container. A thirdparty app can solve this little bit (motionCam or gCam), but it is tricky and not always good. So for photograper-freaks the Sony is way better than any other phone.
Well done on picking the flagships, genres, test conditions (on a table, where we usually place our phones when listening to music). The topic of this video is really important to me when choosing a phone. I would have preferred the looped samples to start and end on the 1 beat, to give the music a continuous flow. Maybe your musician friend can help you with that
I just try on hand this phone in the shop today, i'm excited that sony finally change the aspect ratio of the monitor, but the display color quality isn't what i expected, compare to the samsung s24 series, i can say sony just not on the same level, so i will pass this phone again this year, SONY, disappointed.
