There is a slight bit of screen showing yet around the edges of mine, it’s the correct one for my unit. What if I hit the tiny spot of open glass & it breaks my screen? My luck I’ll hit one of the tiny exposed edges 😭

My problem is why does it cost so much $299.98 in a few years you got to replace it for rope man people are in a America when they bring something out on the market it’s hi dollar why can’t in my opinion they are trying to get rich off on item
Hey Raymond! I am not sure where you got that information that the Leash needs to be replaced in a few years. We currently do not have an expiration date on The Leash.
I thought about rigging up something similar to save a few bucks but the time it takes to shop for and buy lesser expensive parts, I'm wasting more time than it's worth just buying the kit for $300. Then I know it's done right the first time. No estimates, no guess work , no cut corners. Sure I can save a few bucks but the savings doesn't justify the time and frustration of buying a part here and a couple parts there. Returning parts that are off a little and spending who knows how many hours of wasted time getting it right. $300 is a bargain. 👍
Just put one on my Helix 12. I cracked the glass screen casting a big jig. Replacement screen will cost over $350 for a Gen 2 Hummimbird. I'm going to be replacing this unit in the next year so I'm using Graph Glass to hopefully let me use the unit as is and save the repair cost that I can apply towards a new unit.
Do you make a bracket that bolts to somewhere closer to the transom, like the transom to jack-plate bolts? It seems as though some incidents involve the jack-plate itself breaking when hitting a submerged object and this installation wouldn't seem to help in that case. I want to buy one, but I'd like to see a different mounting option. Thanks for the vid.
If an accident tears the motor from the motor mount bolts and hurls the motor into the boat, wouldn't the same thing occur since the Leash brackets are attached to the motor mount bolts which break ? If the Leash is attached to the motor mount bolts with the brackets provided in the kit, and the motor mounts fail due to the incredible force of a wreck which is strong enough to tear the motor off and throw it, how will the Leash stay attached and serve its purpose. If the motor mounting bolts fail under the force of the wreck, and the Leash is attached to those very same motor mounting bolts, won't the Leash fail as well? If I am missing something obvious here...I apologize.
99% of the accidents that happen that results in the motor flipping into the boat, the piston is the first thing that fails. When that fails, the motor has free range of motion and continues its forward momentum. When it gets to a certain point, it then breaks the next weakest point which is generally the hydraulic jackplate or the motor bracket itself. The leash is designed to come into play after the piston fails and help prevent the motor from having enough leverage to break the next weakest point. Or at the very least divert some of the force to slow the motor down so it does not end up in the cockpit.
The Leash has been tested. We had a study done with the University of Oklahoma and their findings were that The Leash can help prevent the motor from flipping up into the boat. The manufacturer that manufactures The Leash, also manufactures all of the tethers that are used in NASCAR. They test every tether before leaving their facility.

Not to be knit picky, but it maybe a go idea to mention that the engine transom bracket bolts have a torque specification and should not be exceeded. Over torquing can cause premature breakage and/ or wear. Thanks for the video.
