A friend from Berlin took me on a trip to and through the Spreewald, and it was a lovely experience. I loved the pickles and wished I had bought more. The regional train ride through the countryside was spectacular with sunflowers in bloom all around. I’d never considered Germany as a big sunflower producer, so I learned something new!

I am in Mexico, even a native speaker here is going to have something to learn there! I was there about 20 years ago and I think the people spoke with less slang so not to confuse me. I recall a guide saying to me: “You learned your Spanish in Mexico, right? I had said: Vamos allá ahorita? He said: Nosotros dicen, “enseguida” never ahorita 😮

I also feel I'm more fun and interesting in spanish than english. I've been struggling with connecting with my boyfriend because of that. I'm so familiar with the english language that I understand him better than he understands me, specially in terms if communicating feelings 😢

I've debated with myself weather to stay in Sassnitz or Glowe. Both are on Insel Rügen. I haven't been so I'm thinking Sassnitz might be better just so i can go by train and not rent a car.

It is good to see a view from outside. We always like to complain about everything and sometimes we forget, what we already have. And I also like the options on Vocational education and training (Duale Berufsausbildung) along with school based training (schulische Berufsausbildung) or the option to study at a university or university of applied sciences.

Dear Jessie, i feel like you felt... even after many years living back in the Czech Republic. It just never feels the same here for me, but also i didn't feel right staying here at that time and wanted to go abroad .It's still a bit strange living in one place after 9 years, combined, in the UK and USA. . I have an urge to just go to Argentina with all my family. 3kids. Your lessons and videos are great. Much happiness to you , from Pavel

I have 3 albums of photos but seeing everything in real time again is amazing to my heart! ❤❤❤ Germany may become home for me one day….never know! Thank you so much for reminding me of the bliss I felt when I was there and I’m a new subscriber

I'm always laughing when foreigners start praising DB - very ironic!
@marc6506
@marc6506 16 дней назад
Much not-european "foreigner's" reaction might just be: *irony-button ON* "Wow, there IS a public traffic system available? And it BRINGS me ANYWHERE? What, IN JUST HOURS from town to town? Through the whole country in less than a day? Wait, anywhere? The whole continent? And I don't have to be rich for that? NO, you're JUST KIDDING, RIGHT?" *irony-button OFF* I'm german and, yes, if you're used to it to 'be just there', you kinda take it for granted. And yes, missing or "late" connections are annoying then. To get this realistically you must know the 'first world perspective' of most Germans that everything 'under perfection' would be a reason to complain. (I think that's a reason why we're having highest 'standards in complaining' about anything. Kinda the "Secret of being unhappy" under most privileged circumstances. Like this e.g.: *irony-button ON* "Ah, yes, the train arrived only 16 s too late but it's departure afterwards was 1 minute and 26 s too late because it was waiting for the old woman in the wheelchair! That's too late! I'm having rights too and wanna have a compensation!" *irony-button-OFF* Thanks for remembering to get this perspective kinda more realistic, chill down and be able to get happier. Greets

@@janheinbokel3969 Moin Jan, no need to excuse. Just saying. (More for the 'audience' for explanation than to you personally. Of course you know.) I'm always thinking of that dying woman who was lying nearly naked beside a people crowded street in Yogyakarta (Java, Indonesia), nobody was giving attention to her and I couldn't help her. I tried and wanted to let call the next officials an ambulance but they refused obviously rating her as worthless 'trash'. She was in such a bad shape and dried out that I couldn't say if she was 20 or 60 years old. She probably didn't made it until the next morning and I shed a tear for her right now decades after her 'third world problem' death. Still. She represented maybe 1, 2 or WTF trillion peoples increasing on "our" planet. This humbled me for life. That means "Reisen bildet" ("Traveling educates") for me and always garantees to get the perspective right that we enjoy mostly only "first world problems". Therefore my perspective is that we are ALL rich in Germany according to 'world standards'. Even me as I was on Java as a student with BAföG¹ which was 'minimum existence standard' in Germany and still is. I asked a local and there it was enough for about half a year for 2 parents with 2 kids. Alles Gute _ ¹ BAföG (which I referenced above) = german state-funded full scholarship of all basic³ study + living costs, half subsidized, half interest-free loan; repayment 5 years after graduation until paid, reduced with immediate² repayment or above-average² study performance or subsidized, as long as below income/asset limits | Service for our non-german readers | *shout-out 2 U* ² Double CHACKA !-) ³ To get it right, dear non-germans: "Basic" means the pure subsistence minimum which changes in time of course (see current BAföG rules online). To live better, I added a 2 afternoon/week job while studying and rented out my place during absences several times every year.

From Canada. Happened to me twice. Once after spending four months in the mountains of northern Thailand near the borders of Laos and Myanmar. Arriving back in Canada and my home city….I was hit with the very strong feeling that I didn’t really belong in my home city anymore. It felt different…I was changed. And again on another trip, two months in Cambodia followed by a few days in Bangkok, with lots of time at amazing temples. Returned to Canada and my home city again. And again….the weird feeling inside that I no longer belonged in my birth country and city. Very strange….

On #6, though similar to #1 meaning "what?", "what do you mean?", "I don't get you" and even "C'mon, really? are you serious" and so; #6 will mean, almost every time, to say to others like "So you are scared", or coward, you stood back, you don't have the guts, you don't dare and so, more than crowded or full, a metaphoric expression showing that someone's "ur-anus" is trembling, shivering or uncontrollable (like having diarrhea) cause being scared. That's why we use expressions like: cagón, te cagaste, se te frunció el orto o se te llenó el culo de preguntas. You're doing a good job but not that accurate. You're lacking of people +40 or +50 to really help spanish learners to get into the variations of spanish on each country. In our particular case, Argentinian spanish,though we speak spanish we have a lot of expressions that in majority came from Italy, mostly from the south (the poorer regions of Italy at the time of migration), who had so many different dialects than Spanish, with Galician, Catalan/Valencian, Basque, Aranese, and Asturleonese. With many influences from France, Wales, Portugal and others slang expressions. All this mix originated "cocoliche" and the most known "lunfardo" the tango language. This is a long subject talk about but the most of our gestures, proximity, hand communications, passion and loudness voices came from italians. collaboration

Well all you mention is only partly true It seems you come from a country. Where amneties are far apart or not easily reachable by foot: As a matter of fact, 1 out of every 3 Trains from Deutsche Bahn was delayed in 2023, so german punctuality is very overrated. Plus the heavily taxed aging population forces one to live in a socialist regime. People are in general distant, uncouth and unfriendly Bureaucracy is a monster, currently in berlin it takes 3 years after the application of a german passport till one gets it. Germany isnt as rosy as you think, if cycling anf wandering is what you like. Switzerland might be a better fit Germany is not for long term. Oh hell no!!!!!

I’m Dutch dating an Argentinean man and for us, the cultural difference can be huge. A lot of things that are really normal for him are just very strange to me and vice versa. That can be really overwhelming, to have to be conscious of that all the time. And we’re never really able to express ourselves in our own language, because I don’t speak Spanish very well and he doesn’t speak Dutch. I think you have to have a lot of patience being within this kind of relationship. Thanks for this video, I love to see more representation of bilingual relationships!

But i also appreciate that and i am litte proud of it, that a lot of people from other countries feel save and comfortable to live here in germany. And in germany there are lot of american things, so you can feel like home. 🤩So i hope, for the future, that you still like your life in germany.

This 2:57 scene was a bit scary looking, as the whole of Europe is getting more and more crowded so maybe this was a school yard or a city square and if it's the latter, 50 years ago there'd been less than half as many shoppers and pedestrians at any random moment...

Have you been there 50 years ago? 50 years ago there was no Amazon. Not even malls out of the city centers. So yes city centers were crowded with shoppers. Less tourists, maybe.

I'm struggling a lot with that. I've been married to a Japanese man and I am Brazilian. We don't speak each other's languages and we communicate in English. My English is more advanced than his. His level is around B1. We generally have no problems, but when we fight, man, that's hard. I guess that the cultural differences also add up to the difficulties. We tend to get hurt over small things each other does that we feel that was not nice. And to talk things over is exhausting. I love my husband and he loves me, but going through those conflicts has been tough for both of us...

The only two good things about living in America are: space and Christmas time. I have had the best Christmases ( decorating / everyone is nice and cheerful) and you have space , not too overcrowded , you can’t take a step without seeing someone or hearing someone in Germany. Supermarkets are super crowded and when there is too little space and too many people then people tend to get frustrated. Freedom also means to have space for yourself
