Sky have had to go with more original programming now on Sky Showcase (Sky One) as a channel based on prime US shows has so much more competition. Luckily they have here and there created some fairly strong programmes of their own (Brassic). From after 2001 onwards E4 started getting a few good programmes that would have been good on Sky One like My Name Is Earl for example, then E4 went free to air as well. FX and Fox took a few also that would have been good for Sky One like The Walking Dead.
FX stole quite a few shows from Sky One during the 2000s, notably Family Guy, COPS and Nip/Tuck, leaving Sky One no doubt to focus on Simpsons & Stargate. Of course The Walking Dead has just recently started airing on Sky Max.
Were you recording WCW Nitro? I remember Cartoon Network finishing at 9pm as a kid and it becoming TNT Classic Movies. Had Nitro on a Friday night and Thunder on a Saturday. After Sky Digital got going WCW moved to Bravo and Nitro/Thunder were shown on a Friday night back-to-back (it still had a 7pm WCW Worldwide show on Channel 5 to after the promotions end as well). TNT Classic Movies eventually became TCM UK, which due to Warner Discovery merger closed last July in the UK - A real sad day.
British channels were always the most beautiful with the christmas, as is the case with sky sports, which made christmas Idents with snowmen playing sports for christmas of 2010
Great footage. I remember this tour well, crazy to think England would be playing a team of part timers in their warm up games before a major tournament now 😂. Thankfully the tournament didn't turn out too badly!
Great footage, I remember this tournament so well from when I was a kid. The games were double headers from memory, one at 5/6pm then the next game straight after.
