what you say about fitting the different fuelpipe breaking the plastic from the fuel tank is an easy fix boil some water steaming hot you could also use a pan on your cooker to boil water and place the two ends in it for some time like maybe 3-4 minutes all fuel pipe including the one normaly replaced with hard nylon pipe gets soft and maleable easy to push it on a hard nylon pipe is normal replacement over the supplied soft fuel line i have a new vevor heater 8kw in a box and looked at the fuelpipe sure enough it was kinked just at the outlet of the fuel pump because it has to do a very sharp 90 degree bend so obviously is no good even a harder fuel line normaly used to replace it is not bendable and without some manipulation and then would rub hard on the aperture it is suposed to pass through but with the nylon pipe with the harder wall it also comes maleable when exposed to steaming hot water so you could create that tight bend needed by holding the shape you need until it cool(very Quick) and then the bend you just made is permanent clears easily through the apperture

No, 1) having an emergency pee bottle or toilet in the van is super important for emergencies. The Walmarts and most restaurants are closed after 9 pm, McDonald’s bathrooms are as disgusting as gas stations so you have to drive around to find something that is open. 2) don’t make your countertop for cooking as high as it can go in a van especially one like yours because you need the sufficient space between the fire, the cooktop, and the pot your cooking in terms of heat drying the wood above it over time and humidity for growth of mold in between your ceiling slats when boiling water. You really need to measure all that out properly and vent properly. Good video rolled into one!

The problem is that there is no seal on the door like a real oven. Also, the oven box is not insulated like a real oven. Running on 110v it's going to bleed heat faster than it can generate heat. At the end of the day, it's not a real oven. It's just for baking breads.

Why would a/c circulation be a bad design ? It really does work good for every vehicle I’ve ever had. If you take it off circulation then it’s not as cold . Either way Im learning a lot from your videos and it’s nice to see that you interact with your subscribers. Everyone knows how hectic it is just thinking about this stuff without the answers but to have someone with the experience to explain it is helpful

This is exactly the video I have been searching for, I want to convert an EV van and need to go full Zeppelin weight save mode on the furniture. I'm both PAD and CAD experienced and have access to a woodwork shop and a laser cutter if needed. I can't wait to absorb your years of experience and apply them to my build. Thanks.

This was really helpful! I'm planning my build while I look for a deal on a 2020 AWD Ford Transit medium or high roof. I'm going to have the wet cabinet on the passenger side by the door with a sprayer on a 10 foot long hose. I already figured that I didn't want a built in shower for as small amount of time it gets used it takes up far too much room. Instead I'm going with a 32" diameter collapsible dog pool, a coupe of shower curtains that hang from the ceiling temporarily and the sink sprayer, emptying out the pool when we're done with our "navy showers". Since the sink is by the side door the same sprayer will also be the outside shower. I'll build a bucket toilet with urine diverter, jug and 12V vent fan to the outside, I'm going with four 7 gallon jugs for water with another "grey" jug under the sink...no under-mount tanks at all. My goal is to make everything super easy to build, use and maintain, avoiding problematic items like awnings completely. I'm planning on using a 12V system and using as much as I can with 12V DC. I'm considering AGM batteries as I'm concerned with Li batteries in the winter time when we're not using the van but I'll have to look into it a little more. I'm looking at my heater options along with water heating and I'm considering trying it without AC to start with as by night time in my state it's usually in the 60's/low 70's for all of about 2 weeks in the summer time. I don't plan on ever staying at a campground so I may forgo the exterior plug as well but it might be handy at local/county/state parks by the shelters which often have electrical outlets. From what I can tell the alternator should be able to keep us charged up with how we'll use the van. I really like to cook but I'm going to keep it simple with a couple of butane or maybe alcohol burners as I've also been concerned with the spacing on dual burner units. I initially wanted an oven but I don't want to go with propane or have the electrical load of a microwave or toaster oven and I've found that you can bake a lot of things in a covered pan on a burner, everything from biscuits to brownies/cakes/cookies and even pizza. Induction burners look good but I want to offload the cooking from the batteries and I'm concerned with the effects of vibration and the durability of the induction coil generators long term...I've heard some things. I like the chest type 12V Danfoss compressor fridge/freezer units but not the price so I like your idea of using a cheap dorm fridge/freezer. I want to keep everything light, open and simple. Other than food, clothes etc the only things we're taking along are a few fishing rods, a couple of folding chairs/table and a toolbox or two. We're going to use ours differently from most RV owners...week long fishing trips throughout our home state, fun day trips to parks and destinations and to take into the city for appointments, shopping and visiting with family so we can take our great home cooking with us as well as the other amenities.

A little late to this particular video party but thank you! I'm slowly looking to do some conversion on my 2003 Honda Element. While many regrets will never apply to me(i.e. never installing a small fridge in mine!) but the electrical was useful, even the idea of hot water from engine coolant might be something I can rig up, are very useful! Think you'll ever do a similar list for those on a more restricted budget/vehicle size? Either way, thanks for the video!

After listening to all the regrets, I appreciate my van build. I don’t have running water but do have a good size sink. For 3 years I have been drying my coffee grounds and use those to sprinkle on dirty dishes, pots etc. spray with water/vinegar and wipe into compost bin with paper towel. It’s very effective, leaves no smell and no detergent necessary. Great alternative for me.

What do I do if the metal bracket that holds the arm busted right off, I mean the whole steel plate with hole, bracket thing and rubber band part, broke right off… heh. Now I have really easy access to that spring and rubber band. Good video for sure though! 😢

Why did you use 2 relays? Did you really need that? With one controlling the positive isn't enough. Or did you do the reverse but then discover that the blower system didn't work? I was going to use the back from the AC as a hood exhaust and general exhaust. But also my van is 2002 extended hightop. So there could be some differences. But most of your info is helping me xD.

Glad you've found the videos helpful! I wanted to isolate both the positive and negative from the PWM controller, as some will send full 12V positive power and modulate the power via the negative leg of the circuit. I could not find info anywhere on this specific controller, so just 100% isolated both legs (pos and neg) of the circuits (OEM circuitry and PWM controller circuitry). If you know your PWM fan controller modulates speed via the positive leg and treats negative as conventional ground, you could do it with a single relay! Hope that helps!
@N4GUZZ

@VanwithTim do you know if you could technically use the rear ac fan par as extractor?. Like use both synchronized one could push in and the other one out. I've been looking at most videos that you made because there isn't much info in this platform. Given that i bought like one of those church Vans. It's really tall so i have walking space. The issue i have right now is i have to make some custom roof rack because i don't want to drill the fiber glass.
@VanwithTim
@VanwithTim 29 дней назад
@@N4GUZZ I think that's a great idea and would really help with the circulation. You would have to modify the rear fan ducting, as from factory it's permanently recirculating. If you cut a hole somewhere in the back of the van (maybe through the floor?) to push the air out, it could be done! You might be pushing the max amperage of the PWM fan controller though. Should measure the amps of both fans individually to ensure it does not exceed 30A. One final thought - the rear fan sucks air in down near the floor. Ideally it would have the air intake near the ceiling to take out the hotter air.

Maybe if you live up north you would want to do this. For me this would be the dumbest alteration ever traveling and working all over the country from home state MD ( humid and hot in August) and trips to Florida! But for some yea maybe but my system really does not take up much usuable space in my 15 passenger 2002 chevy Express van . with ( tinted thank god )windows. But thanks anyway.🤤

At 2:40 you mention the switch plug in and wires, but it's never mentioned again. I guess if you're using the app to control the bms the switch is not needed. But what if you're in a location with no cell coverage, no wifi, no Bluetooth....like way off grid in remote location? I wish you responded to questions. Great video.

Manual switch is really just there for emergencies. Your phone does not require cell signal to utilize Bluetooth, so even if you're in the middle of nowhere you will still be able to connect Bluetooth from phone to BMS for monitoring and controls. 👍 Hope that helps!

I think between water from the A/C unit, and rainwater wicking in through the side mounted grille, you're going to be dealing with water leaking and soaking under the floor. It's an interesting idea, and a very compact solution, but water is relentless. 13 years building car bodies at BMW
