560grams for almost 5 quid is absolutely pathetic. I remember when you used to get 2kg tubs, that was proper value. Nowadays everything is getting smaller and smaller and more and more expensive. We're getting bent over and shafted by every company in the country.
Remember when your mum said you can only have one bar of chocolate? Todays mums are still saying the same thing when the bars have halved in size! So really mums todays should be telling their kids they can only have two chocolates 😉 Any parents, just dont let you kids know otherwise they'll use this against you!
2 packs of celebrations (325g each) are currently 2 for £6 in Asda, so it works cheaper to buy 2 325g bags than 1 550g for the same price as you're getting more!
You’ve got your massage across loud and clear…. Brilliant I’m definitely on the same page . Love a “Super” market that really is just that bring on the good stuff I would rather pay more for quality than paying same for whatever crap they want to dump on us 🥇💯👏👏👏👏
Watching a grown man lamenting the fact that his cut down carton of Celebrations is filled with Milky Way's - comedy gold. U seem to have forgotten that most working class families, years ago, would only see chocolates at Christmas, now we can eat them every day, every week. Why not moan about something which is worse than the past, like peoples expectations to have stuff for free... like you wanting a kilo of Quality Street for 1 shilling and sixpence - yes that's 7.5p.
We don't buy sweets in tins anymore they are all doing the same less product for higher price. The tins have gone up by £1 this year for less quantity. As for the chocolate prices they have gone up by 75%, forced diet which I should not complain about.
That has to be aimed more at the people that drink ready to drink cocktails! I remember those Barry IPA bottles, looked really modern and I liked the beer, I can't believe it's so long ago.....I didn't know you were involved with the brewing of it.
It is about time someone said this we are paying more for more shrinkflation I do believe that it is not in dictionary another made up word to justify the price increases,I drink John smiths beer ln my local if you look at the difference when you buy elsewhere they not have the same colour yet it is brewed the same(WHY)
Sugar and chemical additives are also much more expensive these days. There's virtually no chocolate in those things - cocoa commodity costs a fortune atm.
I buy Staro from Lidl in Poland, bar code starts with 859, usually priced at 4.99 zloty a can, sometimes on sale for less. Have you seen the staro unfiltered? Here in Poland we get 2 types of unfiltered, one regular and one wheat beer unfiltered.
You said you're not knocking the 'quality' of the chocolate, but I bet skimpflation has taken place too - i.e they don't taste as good as years back due to using inferior and cheaper ingredients. That big plastic tub is also obscene now - needs to be cardboard..
I remember when even the cheap lagers used to taste decent and have different alcohol levels. Fosters, Carlsberg, 4X, Stella and others (not Carling, that's always been pish) used to have unique flavour profiles. Now all mass produced lagers taste the same; they have a horrible metallic taste behind them and they're no stronger than 4%. The only lager I enjoy these days is the Italian Birra Moretti.
Sours, IPAs, Belgian and Weiss beer are all I drink these days. I've yet to find one that makes my face implode yet though. The Blueberry and Maple Sour they do is brilliant.
My local Asda are selling them at 6 quid a tub.. I noticed straight away the tubs have shrunk in depth again.. I simply refuse to buy any of those tubs now. I refuse to let these big corps rip me off.. it's bad enough all chocolate bars have shrunk in size.. especially Cadbury bars. Yeah the prices continue to rise..
