I've heard this song many times as a kid,but something changed and that change was the opening with the drums. I could listen to the beginning maybe a hundred times before listening to the whole song.
I was in college and the Kingston Trio was at the height of their popularity but we were also drafting young men in the terrible Vietnam War when the Trio released this song. We sang this song at so many campus events as our friends went drafted, many never to return! I still listen to the Trio often, usually to some of their fun songs, but this song will always remain in my heart forever!
