When you compare this to a typical concerto, there isn't a great deal of virtuosic flair and flourishes of lightning-fast patterns that you might find in that of a Classical-era composer, but that's what makes it so interesting to listen to - each note expresses a feeling or mood and each chord and melody brings to mind a different image or color. There are no wasted notes.
