That's an impressive padlock there. I'm more impressed, you picked it with that tall shafted gem hook. I can imagine, it overset many times before you could get an open. 😂

Very cool looking lock. But, why didn't the manufacturer just put that sixth pin straight in? On the other hand, that slideable plate does make for a great customization feature. In any case, thank you for your sub 🤘 Ps. I really wish I saw this video before my first attempt at reasembly of a gutted lock. Got to the same technique through trial and error (a painful one 😂)
I love that song playing through the picking. I also love the sigh of relief when you finished. I am loving seeing people beat my lock. I'm no Jon Holistik but I'll try lol. I tried to serrat the pin-in-pin came out a bit wonky but it works lol. That lock did come grubbed and thanks for picking man!!✌️💜🤙
Those are some cool little locks, but they share very little in common with the style of the Polhem locks which Christopher Polhem invented. He certainly didn't make (at least not any great number of them) any of these Scandinavian locks, and definitely not in the 1800s either considering he died in 1751. These "Scandinavian locks" are, despite their moniker, basically unheard of in Scandinavia, what we have are called "Polhemslås" (Polhem locks) which stylistically look quite different. These ones with the full cast body were made in the US, and therefore are probably more aptly named "Scandinavian style locks". The mechanism is the same, or close to the same, as the Polhem locks which predate these by at least a hundred years or more.
So I have an antique brass combination lock somewhere... Been watching a lot of Mcnally and LPL lately and considered sending it in to them - But as of now I can't find it. I tinkered with it for a bit when I first got it but had no luck forcing it or figuring out the combination. Is it something you'd like to take a look at? I would want it back, but I'd love to see it figured out so I could use it. Not that I really use locks day to day, but I'm a believer of functional antiques - I collect lighters primarily, but I try to get everything in my collection restored and working.
