Thanks. (merci) I am a fan of Ibanez guitars. I used to own a MIJ GB10 and it was really nice. I haven't tried a GB10 SE, but I REALLY like this guitar for it's easy playability and satisfying sound.
I really like the guitar. I find it to be balanced tone wise all over the neck. Being a smaller person I really like the 2.5" depth because I like to wear the guitar high and with the light weight it is very comfortable to play. Dollars/quality this guitar is a bargain IMO
@@FretWiredJournal I bought mine online from a large retailer on the understanding that I could return it within 30 days for a full refund. I would advise you to do the same if you aren't able to play one in person. You don't really know until you get your hands on a guitar whether it's for you or not. I won't be returning mine but not everyone has the same tastes.
Man, that tailpiece looks super classy. If I worked for Gibson I'd be hopping mad about how much it resembles the Super 400 or 300. I've also noticed Ibanez never makes 25.5" scale archtops anymore.
Thanks! Yes I am a big Ibanez fan too. Personally I wouldn't change the tailpiece, or anything on a new guitar. I think that a lot of thought went into this design to give you the best value for your money so I'm inclined to leave it as is. 😊
Thanks! I've pretty much given my opinion in my replies to other comments if you want to check them out. But generally I am very pleased with the guitar. It's easy to play, with a clear tone and quite light which I find a real bonus. Quality wise I find that you get your money's worth. Only quibble is the paint job isn't the most beautiful. I would have preferred the one in natural/amber but they weren't in stock with my retailer.
I am thinking of buying one too! But I am not sure about the pick up. I am used to warm dark humbuckers so it would be a new departure for me. This guitar has an ibanez made ceramic magnet pick up, so I wonder if it is not as good as some Charlie Christians on the market. I worry it might be too bright/brittle. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video...
I like the sound of the pickup. Lots of ways to fatten up a bright clear pickup. Turn the down volume pot a bit, turn down tone pot as much as you like, turn down treble on amp, use flatwound strings, use an analog delay pedal set at 2oms, bump up reverb a bit on amp, play with a light touch, play with a heavy pick. I bought my guitar on a 30 day trial, perhaps you could find a similar deal, cause you won't really know unless you try it. Personally, I wouldn't swap out a pickup in a brand new guitar, I just wouldn't buy the guitar.
Thanks. Like any single coil if you have your amp loud and play with the guitar volume wide open you will get some hum. The way I play, I always back off the volume and tone controls a bit. I also don't play my amp that loud, so I don't notice any noise,
@@apopowich thank you for your answer, that's exactly how I play clean sounds and not much gain on the amplifier... warm greetings from the Czech Republic Alexandr K.
@@apopowich Great, that's probably the only thing our country gave to the world....(Martinů, Dvořák, Rudy Linka, Jan Hammer....) We will toast from a distance, to the memory of Grand Master Russell Malone.. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart....Alexandr K.
@@apopowich Hello, you were right, the guitar is great and the sound can be adjusted without humming. It's unbelievable that there is a lot of acoustics .. but also jazz soun .. unbelievable, I think, that there are 0.10 strings from the factory. I'll put my own there 0.11. warm greetings from the Czech Republic Alexandr K
Thanks! I haven't had the guitar very long so I'm still in the honeymoon phase". The guitar is very comfortable to play and weighs only 6.2 pounds which reduces fatigue on the shoulder if you are practicing/playing a lot. Mine came very well set up. Low action and easy playability. The sound is very satisfying acoustically and plugged in. Keep in mind regarding the plugged in sound that I am a home player and play at low volume levels. The acoustic sound reminds me of a Gibson ES125 that I used to own, maybe a bit more volume than the Gibson. The sound you heard on the video is a mic on an amp going to an interface which is going direct to an iphone. Hope this is helpful.
@@apopowich Thank you Alan, that was indeed helpful. Yours is the first sound demo of that model I could find playing some proper Jazz. I do own a 125 but I sometimes miss a cutaway and I like the sound and looks of that CC-pickup and the ES250ish tailpiece. The guitar can be seen as a bridge between the earliest and the modern days of electric Jazz guitar. I guess the spruce top adds to the acoustic sound. I sometimes do play in public but when playing at home I mostly have to use headphones because of a certain neighbour. Thanks again and play her in good health! Dietmar
Beautiful playing, love your tone! How did you get the string-to-string balance on your neck pickup? I'm having trouble with that and would appreciate any advice, thank you!
Thanks! I have the neck pickup quite slanted with the treble side a lot closer to the strings. The guitar is an American Professional II so it's probably a high quality pickup which is helpful as well. Also, playing with a pick, my right hand attack is pretty consistent.
Great playing!! Love the Ibanez Jazz box, I have AF 75, AFJ91 & AS93 & I love it!!. Just subbeb to your channel!. You deserve more views and subs!!. All the best!!
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I love Ibanez guitars as well. They prove that you don't have to spend a ton of cash to get a great playing and sounding instrument. Every time I see a used one up for sale in my area I want to go and buy it! lol
@@apopowich Agreed with you about no need to spend a ton of cash, these Ibanez is good enough for me either!!. I can feel that addicted to get more and more hahaha
Thanks! This is a great guitar for practicing. Loud enough to hear acoustically but not so loud as to disturb others. Also a great price to quality ratio.
