I did this took me about 3 weekends on back breaking work, especially when you discover an old path right where you intend the pond to be. Recommend testing the area first with some steel rods.
I have the larger one. Not real happy about all you have to go through to pull the sponges out to thoroughly clean. No directions how to dissemble and reassemble. Is there a manual or some kind of instructions? The smaller units have a rotating crank to wring sponges some. My unit only runs a back wash. Does catch stuff but honestly you need to pull apart way too often to really clean. For all of those reasons I’ve pulled mine out and want to sell it CHEAP. Caution, when they tell you how many gallons it will filter divide that by 2 to get accurate volume it can actually filter. Do like the video though 🤙🏻
Every video that involves digging shows this magical, dark, non-compacted, loose, stoneless, loamy soil. These videos are taken in a land where shovels inch down into the ground with minimal effort by an always sweatless wielder and, with minimal effort up comes a crumbly soil, happy to comply with human command. Some say that Antarctica is the heavily guarded entrance to The Garden of Eden. Is that where these videos are taken? I ask because whenever _I_ dig I need a jackhammer, a full week and a contrite prayer. Not cool RU-vid...not cool.
I have an old pro installed liner pond. 2 levels for fall. One of our issues, and it is going on today, is a heavy rain will cause water to lift the liner (and it previously lifted a cast pond, as you have) This pushes water out of pond and when liner is let down pond is near m/t. Too many leaks over years and deciding how to leave something behind of a water feature. I am now at a 900 gal pond. Kind of sick of it now that I am old.🦇
I have a question how does this type of ponds deal with cold weathers and ice? We r from PA, temperature can drop 15 degrees below zero Celsius during winter time
Great video! Thank you! I noticed your video is six years old and I want to do the same thing. Did you manage to contain the rhizomes or any reason they snuck under the barrier?
This is the Verve kit sold by B&Q, but there are now no instructions on the back. Being at least half the price of similar kits it seems to sell out very quickly, so buy as many as you think you will need in one go. For the dowels the measurement I took with Vernier calipers would suggest using a 9.5mm or 10mm drill to make the hole. Also the kit now only contains 6 hexagonal nuts. So screw the nut all the way, place the wire in the slot, screw the cap in as far as it will go and then tighten the wire in place by screwing the nut back out.
