I heard a lot about her. I heard a lot about legends miss everything I seen things in real life when I get a retired from my job I’m gonna go to Monster and I’m bringing them all down to their knees.
Good question! To abide by RU-vid's content guidelines as well as approach the topic with sensitivity for the viewers who may be experiencing something similar, we censored the word.
A bunch of these aren't debunks. I haven't even read the Percy Jackson series but I know he was named after Perseus in universe, and not intended to be the same character. (Medusa still being alive when the original was supposed to have killed her IS a contradiction though) Ariel had sisters, so unless greek myth says that Pallas was an only child there's no contradiction, and even then Ariel seems to be a teen in the 17 or 1800's so...
"Debunks" is subjective-- Ariel is not actually Poseidon's granddaughter in greek myth whatsoever, for example. And we never said Percy Jackson and Perseus were the same character. We actually said the opposite lol!
@@TheThingsOfLegends You said the Percy Jackson series rewrote Perseus' backstory and went on about them having different parents. If you didn't think they were the same person then that whole section makes no sense. While I never really believed the fan theory that Ariel was Poseidon's granddaughter, your argument against it was super weak. "She was never mentioned" None of the people who talk about that theory ever said she was. Even if Greek myths were verifiably true we still wouldn't expect Ariel to show up in them because she would have been born thousands of years after they got written down.
@@ThoDuSt You're making extractions from the video that aren't there to begin with. If we must spoonfeed, never did we EVER say "Percy Jackson series rewrote Perseus' backstory." Percy Jackson is clearly INSPIRED by Perseus and in the video we clarify notable differences between both. We've made two completely separate videos diving deeper into BOTH Percy Jackson and, in a separate video, Perseus and Medusa. And regarding Ariel, we don't just make videos for the Greek Myth mavens, we make them also for newcomers. The Ariel and Poseidon thing is not a new concept we've introduced on our channel. We've talked about it before and have gotten quite a FEW comments regarding people not knowing that the Disney iteration is not as true to tale.
@@TheThingsOfLegends First off; Newcomers? Triton is not so widely known for that argument to fly. He doesn't show up in many myths, nor are the ones he does show in especially important or memorable. I wouldn't expect most people to even know there WAS a mythological figure named Triton. Most videos introducing the idea of Ariel being Poseidon's granddaughter have to tell their audience who Triton is because it isn't common knowledge. Second; your video title has "you've been lied to" and the in-video title card says "top 5 most debated myths" implyong something was wrong or misunderstood about the pop-culture IPs on the list, including the section on Percy Jackson in a video of either of those titles is wildly misleading, and flat out confusing. Since, as I mentioned, I hadn't read the Percy Jackson books, I don't know if there was a good reason for inclusion that just didn't come across in the video, but your comments only make it's inclusion make LESS aense.
@@ThoDuSt To your "Triton" point, it doesn't change the fact that, like we said, we have various viewers who found the Ariel-Poseidon connection or lack thereof to be new information. So what now? To your second point, since you haven't read the Percy Jackson books, you're commentary regarding our breakdown of Perseus and Percy Jackson isn't quite valid and credible, now is it? Thanks for your comment and for spending so much time writing your essay! A+ since you were looking for a grade :)
The version of this story that I heard involved Zeus seducing Callisto as Ar t hemis...I havent heard that he forced himself on her. But I do agree that as ruler of the gods, Zeus had some pretty wild affairs...
@@TheThingsOfLegends i sure do hope Sentry won't end up with his potential wasted in Thunderbolts, like Gorr was wasted in Love and Thunder. Although Gorr was the most sympathetic villain in Marvel in LAT.
@@WAR_ITSELF Eagles aren't native to North America. The Bald Eagle is. To our point in the video, the eagle is the national bird of many countries such as the Philippines as well.
to sum it up: queerness has been around us since forever as it is as normal and natural as hetero things. the whole concept of heteronormativity has been wrongfully hoisted on us by several religions and is incompatible with our modern concepts of equality and non-discrimination. please make sure your kids grow up free from gender-based stereotypes.
Ancient Greece was divided into city states with their own culture, Sparta and Troy being one of many. Think if the US had no federal government and just State government.
People can disrespect Ancient Aliens but if it wasn't for this think tank of theorists and theologists we wouldn't know much if anything about Atlantis. They woke up a lot of people
For “ancient Alien theorists” read “delusional” to be one, all you need is mad hair or a stupid hat. And as long as it sells books they will keep flogging the same nonsense. According to them our ancestors were not skilled enough in masonry to create the temples and monuments we see today. Even though the Stone Age lasted for 3.4 million years, we learnt nothing. Atlantis was a fictional story told to Plato by his grandfather who had heard it from the Athenian statesman Solon 300 years before Plato’s time.Solon heard it from an Egyptian priest who said the story was 9000 years old.
hahaha fair take. We thought we'd join in on the fun and take part of the "Ancient Alien Theorists" community. There are so many people who believe in it! Who really knows? After all, these "original" stories of Atlantis having been supposedly passed down by Plato could have also been extremely changed and warped through time and cultures.
