Just an average dude - happy husband, proud father and all around family guy. My life is focused on: Faith, Family and Friends. This is what drives me and keeps me ticking.

Golden Point - Drinking Breast Milk or sucking breasts does not make you a baby or weak person, its how you behave in life that makes you a baby or a weak person
This is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely try hiking this route with my family next year. Just a few questions. 1 when do you think it’s too cold to hike for the novice hikers? Like November through March? 2. Is it illegal to cook the fish and eat after catch? 3. Did you bring bear repellents?
Thanks @dannykim9477! Glad you enjoyed it! My son (@seanlee8163) knows more about backpacking and hiking in Yosemite (and Sierra and Sequoia National Forests) than I do, but will try to answer your questions: 1. Yosemite remains open all year, but some roads and access points are closed for the winter due to weather/snow. It’s a good bet that your options for backpacking and camping will likewise be limited during this time. Best time is probably early spring and fall - we went in late September and the weather was perfect! (www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/winter.htm); 2. In terms of fishing regulations, there are limits to the number of fish you can possess on a daily basis and in some areas, all rainbow trout have a “catch and release” policy. See the link here for more info (www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/fishing.htm); 3. Bear spray / repellent is not permitted in Yosemite, but you must have bear canisters for your food. More helpful hints on dealing with bears at Yosemite can be found here - www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/scarebears.htm#:~:text=(Bear%20spray%2Fpepper%20spray%20is,food%20and%20leave%20the%20area. Hope this helps and definitely encourage you/your family to do this trip - it was amazing!
The monument in this video was built by Colonel Kuser to honor NJ war veterans. A private citizen built this. The monument and entire park were then gifted to the people of NJ at Kusar’s death. 14,000 acres. Unfortunately, NJ let Kusar Mansion, also gifted to NJ, fall into disrepair. Sad. NJ should have leased the mansion out to a private company to operate a B&B. But then again, government can’t do anything right.
Hats off to you new Navy officers. Love those dress whites. You have a tough but rewarding 30 years ahead of you. May you retire as at rear admiral or better.
Great video I am retired now but this brings back lots of memories while I did not attend Annapolis you never forget that day you received your commission and first salute. Good luck ensign and in two short years mom and dad can put on your LT(jg) shoulder boards.
I’ve been following Sean’s journey through these videos. I also feel tremendously proud of Ensign Sean even though I’ve never met him. I send him blessings as he begins his commission and next step in his life journey.
Got both goosebumps and tears in my eyes watching this. I've never met Ensign Lee, but MAN am I proud of him. Our country is in good hands because of men and women like him.
Wow. What a professional job of showing your son's path thru his time at The Naval Academy! Thank you! *s/ Retired 24 Year US Navy Submariner - USNA Class of 1965 - Former Enlisted Man*
Congratulations Ensign. I started my Army career at 17, and retired 21 years later and I can say you’re in for an amazing adventure. Savor every moment. Enjoy the highs, and don’t forget to Solder-On through the lows too. Because one day, in the distant future, you’ll remember all of it with fondness and pride. I wish you, and your classmates God speed and safe travels. ~ CW4 “Chief”
When you get to your assignment put it in your subconscious that you want to do something for other people without it being known that you did it. A bombastic attitude will not help you out. In general best to say as little as possible. When you go to your assignment for the first three to six weeks, observe before you get into the swing of it. Never say that anyone is stupid even if the person is not there that you're saying it about. Not being so well educated is a sensitive issue with enlisted and they can sense that you feel that way and they won't help you out if you think that way about him or her. A good portion of the enlisted come from dysfunctional families. So try to make each person feel he or she is intelligent without saying it directly. Never make a snide remark. A sailor or fellow officer will realize you have positive attitude about them and will support you thereafter. One or two of the people is crazy and you have to identify them, and see the best way to handle that situation. Reading autobiographies of all time great officers will help you exceedingly. Especially if you read such books out loud to yourself.
Thank you for taking the time to offer what sounds like first hand experience. Sage advice and I will be sure to pass it on to our son. Thank you for your service!
Lots of changes. We were in civilian clothes when we were sworn in.... except the few of us that were Enlisted Men when we entered USNA. No women in the Class. After 81 years, the lyrics of the Alma Mata, Navy Blue and Gold, were changed in 2004. Looks like the Severn River is still there! Oh, did I mention no women? lol *s/ Retired 24 year US Navy Submariner - USNA Class of 1965 - Former Enlisted Man*
Congratulations to all the young men and women who are serving this GREAT NATION from an old veteran to a young person who is just beginning, good luck and GODS SPEED
Congrats but take my advice. Listen to your E5s-chiefs. Believe it not they will have more real world experience than you. Don't come in like most academy grads being hot shit.
3:42 brings it all home… those are the lighted placards of all the Midshipmen who’ve been killed in action, inside of Memorial Hall, inside of Bancroft Hall… And above that is the Perry Flag flown for Capt Lawrence aboard USS Chesapeake in the Battle of Lake Erie 1813… Memorial hall is maintained by the midshipmen only! God Bless America!!!!
