The means to an end The sinful distress Writing down meaningless words Vaguely off hand So the rest of the band Can learn from the bees and the birds Concentrate business man you You haven't got long Planets are ruling your hearts Stilettos and thighs may be burning your eyes But it keeps you from falling apart Heavy but generalised Sordid and wet Someone advised me to die Blowing your mind 'Cause you know what you'll find When you're looking for things in the sky Under the influence Rotting our nerves Cutting us off at the mains Nearing the end with your grandmother's friend It's something to do when it rains It's something to do when it rains It's something to do when it rains
This Song & Messerschmitt Twins Stand out with Messages & Electricity As Superb Early OMD Songs .. "The Twins" is a Very Angst Ridden Superb Song. Still love it 43yrs on
Spot on Neil. I completely agree with you. "The Messerschmitt Twins" is in my top three OMD tracks, along with "Almost" and "Stanlow". All the best buddy 🧡
I was 13. England. Roman Catholic school. I still find this wonderful song fascinating. There was NOTHING else in my safe little universe that sounded like this. 🙂
Beautiful track. Spoilt for choice in 1980 weren't we. "Telekon", "Metamatic", "Travelogue" and "Organisation" to name but a few. I was sixteen years old and what good fortune! Feel blessed to have been "wired" to love electronic music 🖤
totally agree with your comments, listed probably my four favourite albums there.. music was so much better then, i was 14 yrs old, never got out of electronic music to this day still my favourite genre.
@@williammillington7955 Thanks very much for your reply William. I think that we are very much on the same page. I couldn't agree more with you. When I first heard tracks like OMD's "Electricity", The Human League's "Marianne" and Kraftwerk's "Neon Lights" on Radio Luxembourg on my mini transistor I knew that I'd found what I had been looking for. Or perhaps more accurately, electronic music had found me. All the best buddy 👍
@@christopheradderley45 haha.....we are so alike, thats a blast from the past Radio Luxembourg, i used to listen to that too! totally forgot about it. Kraftwerk's Man Machine album i played to death! and also Metamatic....still a go to album for me!
This was 'handmade' electronic music, literally. See the documentary how they made the early albums. Not the computer produced bilge produced today by computer programmers, not musicians.
I never had girls every night or ever drank 17 pints. More like a girl every few years and 17 pints a month. I did have a colour TV and a stereo though, so I'm half way there.
The means to an end The sinful distress Of writing down mean in this words Vaguley I've had So the rest of the men Can learn bout the bees and the birds Constraint business man you haven't got it all Been at it to rule in your heart Stilletos and may be burning your eyes Kept you you for falling apart Inhibit generalize Sorted and wet Someone advised me to die Blowing your mind Cause you know what you'll find When you're looking for things in the sky Under the influence Rotting your nerves Cutting us off at the base Nearing the end is your grandmother's friend Something to do when it wrythes Something to do when it wrythes Something to do when it wrythes
Yep -- it does. JCC was working with The Invisible Girls: a British rock band, formed in Salford, Greater Manchester in 1978, The band's nucleus was Joy Division and New Order producer Martin Hannett and keyboardist Steve Hopkins, with contributions from, amongst others, Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks and Bill Nelson of Be-Bop Deluxe.
1980s was the golden age of eerie and captivating alternative music. This music makes me long for those days and experiences I had or wish I had . It's depressing how stupid music is now and how long ago it was when music was good.
Good version. Thanks for posting. Julia Kneale who co wrote the song you uploaded to RU-vid have been working on new material. If you are interested do check out my channel for more details or click my icon on the left to view them on RU-vid.
