Wow! There is my Columbia Helicopters bird N6675D parked at the FARP. Crazy to think I could have been sitting there waiting to refuel while sucking down a juice box from the DFAC while this was videoed. So jealous of that single point refueling. There was endless talk of adding it to our birds but it never came to be.
FOB Gardez Feb 2003..the terrain is daunting..I always dreaded the drive from Khost to Gardez. It is hard to believe people actually make a living and survive in this terrain. We had only a well. No shower for many-many months..challenging memories!
FOB Salerno... I was there in 2006... I was attached to the 1/75 Rangers as OCF... We were behind that area with the green fence... Some bad things happened there, I'd rather not talk about... Aziz made some good bread... I made my Joes some wall lockers out of plywood... And I built our platoon a shower with some aluminum tubing I got from the civilians and engineers down the road... I was one of the last of my platoon to leave... I walked past Pat Tillman's bench and just thought about what a waste it all was... I vaguely remember getting on the C130J that day... Really, that's all I'd rather remember at this point... I find myself looking for pictures and videos of that place from time to time... It's like picking at a scab, wondering if it's going to bleed... It doesn't bleed anymore, but it left a hole... Jesus Heals...
Was there in 2013 as a mech for Columbia Helicopters. Shrapnel city for sure. Moved to Bagram after that. I miss the real out there outpost feel that Shank gave. The rules in Bagram were a real pain in the ass after awhile.
Holy shit, brought back memories. I was there most of 2013, C co 1-501st attached to 101st TF then later, 10th mountain. May have heard our call sign, Angry and then later switched to Pitch Black. We ended up moving our flight line to the airfield on the south of the fob after a bunch of accurate IDF around our tents and CP. Place was nuts.
Very Impressive. I may be wrong but I saw another program on You Tube that had one larger that from the way they talked about it no longer exists. Most likely too big and used too much fuel. It probably got scraped. I like the video
There was a bigger one, but it was experimental. This one, the Mi-26 is produced in numbers. Definitely more than three hundred were built, it's in active service.
Notice the skid plate just before the upright in the tail rotor fuselage!!! It needs this to keep from destroying itself during initial rotor spool up!!! Also this chopper doesn't need a runway!!! It's obviously a novice pilot at the controls!!! How else would it even be possible to remain afloat on the tremendous column of air this magnificent girl produces!!! Stupidity runs rampant in the human race!!! Helicopter equals V.T.O.L. for gosh sakes!!!!
@@maxx_q my ex boss from the pipeline has the sky crane version and not only can it take off straight up but also lift a D12 cat dozer at the same time!!!
This is a special video because my dad gave me my late grandfather's Stevens .410 a while back.....the exact same model shown here. The one in the video also probably says it was made in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts on the barrel. It's the first firearm I ever shot, and I wouldn't part with it for anything on this Earth but my own family. I'd let my FN-15 AR go before that humble old shotgun.
