Hi everyone, my name is Luke. I am a 27 year old, fourth generation farmer located in Denton NC. I work a full time job as an electrician, and farm over 165 acre with my family. Follow along as I learn the ins and outs, and ups and downs for running a farm. We currently grow corn, soybeans, and wheat, as well as raise cattle and sheep. With this channel I hope to entertain, as well as inform others what it's like taking over a farm in a "Skip Generation" family. I am constantly learning and making mistakes, so feel free to let me know if I do something incorrectly, or if there is a better way. We give all the glory to god our father. Thanks Y'all!

I just came across your channel today and I instantly subscribed! Love whatching your 6620 tear threw some good wheat, I’ve ran my grandpas 7720 in beans by far the coolest combine I’ve ever ran ! We’re located in southern illinios

That’s awesome. You’ll get to see it tear through some crappy corn here soon. Tested a little this evening and between the better places and terrible places we were averaging something around 45 bushels to the acre. Drought killed us. Hopefully gonna have some good late corn, and soybeans this fall so there should be plenty of harvest content!

Matt may have you growing cotton
@RouthFarms
@RouthFarms 8 дней назад
Maybe one day lol. Only one other guy does cotton, so getting it custom harvested would be hard, and I can’t see spending all the extra money for the equipment to be able to harvest it with no more land than I’m farming right now.
@BillMorris-sx7vi
@BillMorris-sx7vi 8 дней назад
Glad to see the crops looking good, hey Luke I saw you helping Matt on his cotton picker in his latest video. Question do you see yourself ever getting into the cotton market? Have a safe and blessed Labor Day weekend 🙏🏻🇺🇸
@RouthFarms
@RouthFarms 8 дней назад
Honestly, as of right now I kind of doubt it. We only have one person near us that grows it, so getting someone to custom harvest for me would be hard to do and by the time they would get to it the quality would be way down. I’m not sure I could see it being worth the investment for all the extra equipment to buy my own module picker, bole buggy, and module maker. Maybe one day if I ever get enough acreage to farm. Cotton is a very interesting crop, that’s for sure.

@RouthFarms
@RouthFarms 18 дней назад
@@BillMorris-sx7vi I guess part of that depends on crop insurance. I don’t have crop insurance myself, but I think some require you to harvest it to see what yields you have out there to pay the difference. For me if I can get enough grain off to pay for atleast my fuel and time I will harvest, if for nothing else to keep from having the grain come up next year and have to contend with the weed seed. I would say you could just run through it with a bushhog or something to knock the stalks down and chop them up if it was a compete and total loss.
