Vacuum bag using a hot bonder would work great with a project like that.

I’ve seen many people saying bolt comes loose when using the fluidampr balancer. Doesn’t seem to happen with the factory balancer though.
@bradmcbrideracing2765
@bradmcbrideracing2765 Год назад
i agree, but the oem is not sufficient for the high powered applications. I have spoken with Fluidampr about the issue. They just will not redsign for correct tolerances. ATI Dampers can be made but unfortunately they want you to purchase a minimum of 10.

Ease of repair is one of the things that I love the most about Carbon fiber.

Adding that heat probably made the bond twice as strong. I used to brush on some slow cure epoxy over the repair and then hit it with a heat gun till the epoxy was ultra thin then applied the carbon and let it cure in a warm area. The thinner you can get the epoxy by heat the more it will flow into places it never could with room temperature, you can even try a test on some window glass, heat one layup till its super thin epoxy then another lay up over room temp. After cured the colder layup prep one will pop right off and the other heat prep one will be on there forever, nothing will take it off except grinding or sanding.

I have a small crack on my cold air intake which is carbon fiber and I'm going to put a small piece of the fiber inside because it broke through the weave Do you know if it will adhere good enough and not break loose and gets sucked into my intake I'm so nervous about it lol

As long as you rough up the surface w 40/80 grit and use a good resin, you should be fine

@@bradmcbrideracing2765 i have a big gash in my carbon fiber hood that was damaged in a crash, any good ideas how to fix it? i was thinking of buying some forged carbon fiber shreds and just mixing epoxy, packing it full and then putting a clamp over it till its dried.
@bradmcbrideracing2765
@bradmcbrideracing2765 Год назад
That should work. If the gash is large it needs to be filled. It sounds like you have the right idea. I would soak th shreds in resin first like you see in the video. Then pack it in. If you do not have some wax cloth, you may be able to use some aluminum foil to cover the repair til it dries. Or if the surface is flat, just use a piece if metal.

@@bradmcbrideracing2765 ok thanks for the advice, can i also put something to clamp it like a C clamp and some plywood?

I have a question. Why block the feed from the main galley? Why not just add the supply and not block the main/head galley split?
@bradmcbrideracing2765
@bradmcbrideracing2765 2 года назад
The reason you need to block it off is because when the front main splits off it looses oil pressure to the rod which causes damage to the rod bearing
@jakefrazier262
@jakefrazier262 2 года назад
What I'm asking is why not just supply that same tap and not block the end of main galley run? Oil pressure is oil pressure. If you are supplying oil from both ends of the galley is that a bad thing?
@bradmcbrideracing2765
@bradmcbrideracing2765 2 года назад
I only block off the galley that crosses theu the block to the other side. I am not blocking anything off in the main galley. Then i just add a supply line to the rh side galley. This by passes the cross over within the block which allows the front journals to have pressure that equals the rest of the journals.
@jakefrazier262
@jakefrazier262 2 года назад
@@bradmcbrideracing2765 My reasoning is thar you would supply the mains from both directions therefore giving you a even pressure across all of the mains and having the head supply increased. I know what you do works, it just seems it would be better if you put oil pressure to both ends of the main galley and have a source supply for the head....just my thought. .Keep up the videos. I have learned a lot!!
