Adding the record review page will get you a similar outcome. One added, you can add your linked record field that links to line items. Then display as list view. I'm sure there's some other videos out there with the new interface. It's on my roadmap as well.
Great video! At the end you mentioned using an automation to create a PDF. Do you have a video on that? I need to automatically generate a PDF to email to clients with their order information as soon as they fill out the form. The PDF would have the form info as well as calculations from dependent fields in the base. Thanks for any insight!
I do have a a couple of examples, but I don't think I have anything that goes into detail with line items. If you are a google user, check out the tool DocsAutomator - docsautomator.co/?via=zack it's fairly easy to get started with, there's lots of PDF generators out there now.
Yes but is every doc start blank in every record ? I mean it would make more sense to me if every smart document for every record in that app / solution started as a template not a blank doc. That's not smart that's just a rich text option in each separate record right ?
Hi Zack, I've been following all kinds of channels from you, GAP, Dan Leeman, Demetri, Smartsuite, Noloco and a few other no-code and automation specialists for a long time. Fillout is definitely one of the best form builders. Unfortunately, I am missing a special feature that allows me to set up multiple columns and not just 2. Is there a way to design more than just one column? A good example for this would be Formcan. Cheers Axel
Hi Axel, at this time I'm pretty sure you can only have two columns by setting up a field as 'half width'. Not sure what the roadmap is for Fillout on this type of functionality.
I was about to say how great I thought Fillout was for a portfolio project I have done. Then I was going to moan about how pricey all these top end form builders are. But checked their pricing and I think $15 for what it potentially can do, is pretty good. Using it with SmartSuite too.
Extremely useful, thank you! Airtable's interface changed a little bit, and line items in the form look different but still super useful. I wonder, how can I pull the line items form an existing list? That list being my main items list, I alreaf have a list of items I sell, so I dont need to add all fields of an item when adding it to a PO.
Yes, the improvements to Airtable interfaces have been great. In your case you will need to add an additional table 'Products' or something along those lines and link it to the line items table. So you will have Orders which contain Line Items which contain Products. Usually the products store information specific to the product like name, description, unit price etc.
It surprises me smartdocs are not smart enough to bring in field values from the record it exist in. It can link a record, but can’t bring any values to the document as text

Would the below work? 1) Replace supplier product description with my systems product description and 2) Replace the supplier price (my buy price) with my sell price.

Hello, I only have 4 days left of Smartsuite trial. I have to decide which tool will be best for my business and Smartsuite is very good but I have difficulties with the formulas and I am not an expert. My problem for 2 days is the following: I would like to multiply 2 fields of my table, the first is the result of this formula: " [Total Morning] + [Total PM] + [Total Evening]" (in number) and the second is a sum (currency) coming from another table. On airtable I write in the following way and it works perfectly: [Total day] * [Rate]. Do you know why it does not work with Smartsuite? and why is it so complicated to write such a simple formula? This channel is awesome... so glad I found your videos! What I cannot understand is NO ONE has made a video about EQUIPMENT RENTAL!? At least I can't find it..... you are my best hope. The order management series would probably get me there but I would love to see a template that has Clients/Companies, Bookings, Equipment In/Out tracking, Formulas for adding $ per day over the date range (due date range), Services(line items), Delivery charging/distance per mile. I would love to show you what I have so far and get your input... It's a mess......
Has anyone figured out how to show all the linked records to a project/task that is scheduled for a given day. For example, if you had 3 people assigned to work on the task in your video, could I show all 3 of those peoples records nested under that record in the timeline or calendar view? It's kind of like I want to see a calendar or timeline view of my people table but grouped by project. The only problem is that there are no dates on my people table. My people are linked to my project table and those are the records that have the dates. I don't know if I'm making sense ;-)
This was a really good demo, it could really come in handy. I'm wandering if there is a way for the invoice to automatically be uploaded to SmartSuite and then continue the rest of the steps?
Thanks! Yes, you can upload files/attachments to SmartSuite with Relay. For example, you could setup a label/folder in Gmail or Outlook and then move emails that have the invoices attached to that folder. In Relay you can set this as your Trigger and then build the rest of the automation.
I’ve tried figuring that out and unfortunately it’s not that simple to add tables via the api in Docs. There’s a tool called docsautomator that’s fantastic for this. docsautomator.co/?via=zack
Couple reasons. The service could have some temporary issues causing things not to process properly. Or because of a temporary bug it's linked but not displaying properly. Usually after a few minutes or a window refresh it will show up.
Thanks a lot! I'm trying to figure out to use a formula to display a smartdoc field of a linked record. I don't find a way to do it. Apparently it's not possible.... Do you have a solution?

Hi, I sort of followed the video but I am not a SmartSuite boff - so got lost a bit along the way. My very simple question is, is there any simple way to create a QR code from a URL in SS and attach it to the same record, in a similar way as can be done in Coda? Sorry for my limited knowledge ...

Both are great platforms and you can achieve many of the same outcomes with each tool. Airtable's automation has some advanced functionality that will provide flexibility depending on your needs. However, if you are going to be using Make/Zapier for automation anway then it probably doesn't matter which tool you pick.

Thanks for watching. I use Descript and a Blue Yeti Microphone. Also, I have found lighting to be important. I would suggest doing some research on lightning setups. You don't need anything fancy but positioning is important.

Hi! Very helpful video, thank you! I am wondering if there is a way to open the url to my record with a QR code on my iphone. When I scan the QR code my phone brings me to a smart suite page in chrome prompting me to download the smart suite mobile app (which is downloaded and signed in) but not to the smart suite app itself. Is there a way around this?
Yes you can! If you use the link from the expanded record view, which you can copy here. help.smartsuite.com/en/articles/8302431-expanding-records-open-record-view#h_55b8b98aa3 Assign that to the QR code and it should open directly to that record assuming you are signed into the app. It works for me. This is the format that of the link that’s required. app.smartsuite.com/{Workspace Slug}/solution/{Solution ID}/{Table ID}/{View ID}?editRecord={Record ID}
that is a nice setup, but if I have other solutions where I communicate with team projects, how to combine all my tasks from my task solution (personal) and any other tasks. my guess is I need assigned to field and this way all tasks ll show up in MY WORK? currently use Todoist + Coda, but if SmartSuite becomes more affordable (PRO plan) will definitely consider switching.
