Yo, I'm salt. I'm a huge fan of the "Ys" series, and I play fighting games too.
For the most part, all I do is talk about stuff I care about and hope people listen. I don't exactly have a schedule, I just upload when I have time lol
I can't wait to play again, but one thing I think about that goes unspoken that I really want to see...SUPER ARRANGE ALBUM! We had our Lacrimosa Super Ultimate, our Monstrum Super Ultimate, we need our Nordics Super Ultimate!!! Def would be Expecting To Be Free in there. Hopefully Young Swordsman in the Eye, Facing the Distant Horizon, The Paradise of Lost Norman and The Ultimate Pleasure in My Hands too.
Most wanted arrangement is definitely Hardhearted Rock Line, I just KNOW it'd be amazing. Through the North Wind would also be cool and MAYBE The Endless Bloody Sea as well.
Happy Ysober Salt! Each of these battle systems have there own strengths but I do enjoy the bump like Moms old fashioned cooking. It’s soul food for me personally. But nothing compares to Ys VIII. I can still enjoy another play through of that game 6 years later.
I was surprised how it took Falcom until Ys IX to introduce equipment to change a character attack type. I think if they introduced it earlier as well as changed the game mechanics I think it could have helped with the issue of only using the same three characters. For example, in the later Ys games you get powers that you can swap in and out to deal with environmental puzzles. It would have been cool to allocate those powers to your companions and after you recruit all alies have situations that force you to change said characters attack type as the other _ attacker is needed elsewhere. Cause I won't lie when it came to the newer games I would just look up who has the best skills and then boom they were coming with me to end game XD
Ystober has such a nice ring to it. I would say I'll join ya in this glorious crusade to get people into Ys this month but uhhh if all goes to plan the 2 Ys videos I'm making this month are going to be oddball hot take videos haha xD. But I'll join this crusade in spirit by liking and subscribing and hoping that youtube cranks out the impressions of this video and your future ones to as many people as possible.
Trails series is peak fiction and one of the best fiction universes ever, plus artistically (graphics, character designs, music) is top notch. But as the tell you, those are all 100h long games at least, and we have played them since 2011 in the west, putting all them one after another may create some burnout, maybe you should take a rest a couple months before diving into Erebonia.
Morning Salt. I tried to play Ys 1 first but my setup didn't work out that well after I had to sit in the bathroom a bit. I then switched to Ys 8. Which was great. And then I went back to Ys 1 again. I never finished Napishtim myself but maybe I'll still do that at one point. There are just some bosses I will not do. But you can equip healing items in YS 6, so it could work. I just can not get certain items, because I suck at the game. Still, the grinding is pretty ok. The music just sucks. The music in Ys 6 is really bad because of all the high pitched frequencies. My ears are really sensitive. I hope you're doing good.
Happy Ystober to you Salt! I love the idea of more Ys videos and where to start. I personally recommend the chronological order besides Origins. Books one and two seriously have a magic in them that get you hooked. The bump system while unique and sometimes challenging, captures the spirit of the game. Whether you enjoyed it on the master system to Chronicles Plus, that magic has carried over the decades
I watched my friend Kommi play this demo. It wasn't terrible. But I can not get over how small the font is! How close am I supposed to sit to my screen to even get the story beats without going even more blind? I will not get this game. It looks ok, but the text is just way too small. And sometimes it is white on white! How are you supposed to even read that?
Don't forget to take a break before you end up with Trails burnout man. But yes, Azure is insane. And Lloyd is kinda my favorite Protag now. Mainly due to his best dad status. That one scene near the end was amazing though. Craziest plot twist ever.
Also, please take your time. I understand you want to get into the next series or game however take your time. Don't burn yourself out. Just finished Cold Steel 4 earlier this year and I told myself I am not playing another trails game until 2025
well uh... it was a cool lil demo (it was a LIL demo i actually wished it went on a little longer lol) for as short as the combat segments are, there definetley seems to be potential within the combat, the moves that Marin had were pretty straight forward but useful, I wish we got more time to play as the other girl but that ending was so ABRUPT like DAMN MAN I WANNA PLAY MORE
Tales of graces has one of the greatest battle systems ever made, so glad its on modern platforms now My only experience with the Rune Factory series was Tides of Destiny on the PS3, i remember it having a really fun battle system Guardians of Azume seems to be the first game to have a fully fleshed out hack n slash combat since that game, so i'm really interested in checking that one out once it releases
Ok, I am back from the fire drill. You have pretty good taste in games. The Sky teaser gave me a heart attack. I was super shocked about Castlevania. Graces F is on the Horizon and I need to buy it asap. Nintendo and falcom know how to drain my finances. Shut up and take my Money! Take it! Just bought the DS Collection for Castlevania. Might preorder Daybreak 2 on Tuesday. I feel very obligated to hand falcom all of my money. They are draining my wallet. But I also need food. I hope I can play a bit on my Switch this weekend. I still need to cook food.
Yeah, I'll never understand why some fans say you can/should skip 3rd. I actually did skip it initially, but I went back and played it later on... and I was upset with myself for listening. I'm glad I gave it a chance, because it actually became my second favorite game in the series (Zero being my absolute favorite - that game is amazing).
The only indie game from direct I'm interested in is Urban Myth Dissolution Center and the DLC for Sea of Stars. Hope nihon falcom remakes also Ys 5 and Brandish 2. Finally, I can play my favorite Castlevania, still annoyed it's not released on ps4.
I screamed. I almost cried, I couldn't believe the timeline I was in. It passed through so quickly I could have almost missed it but the moment I saw Estelle's precious smile, I completely lost it. This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
