Hey, family!! My name is Francois- The Image Eye. This channel is dedicated to gear review and photography/videography tips! Let's work together to make this a wonderful community for everyone to be comfortable and share!:)
Thanks for the video. Did you use an internal mic for the FX30 when vlogging in Seoul? Was looking for a sample of the FX30 internal mic in YT but can't find any.
Hey, thanks for the comment. I used external mics exclusively. I would only use the internal mic if vlogging indoors in a controlled environment. The mic pics up too much collateral sounds. I hope this helped!
Just purchased the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM for use on my Sony A7RV. The best portrait lens that resolves the full 60mp’s of the R5 without breaking a sweat! Put it against my Samyang 135mm 1.8 AF, the Sony ran circles around it! Samyang is a great amateur lens, the GM is my pro workhouse lens!
GM lenses have the optical quality of any lens I have every used. I owned the Sigma 14-24 2.8 before for maybe a month or so and sold it back to the store and purchased Sony's 14mm 1.8. At 2.8, it killed the Sigma! I'm not surprised you have had similar experiences with the 135GM haha. What will you do with the Samyang??
I really enjoyed watching it! It's like many formats (travel, photography, documentary and fun!) together. BTW I also find the shutter sound very premium :)
HELL Noooo!!! Plan and simple. People as me often i plainly say No. Its my camera gear is my passion and im very selfish when it come my camera gear that i love do i baby my gear you Damn Right i do its expensive and i adore my lenses and fo not want them damaged in any way. I even give them a kiss when finished useing them im doory wish i could help you but a can't.
Yeah, I made a mistake before loaning my gear. Even when I was with a friend filming, he dropped my mic and magnet on the ground and left them there. Better to avoid confusion and stuff and just let folks rent their own equipment.
haha..i feel you bro. bought mine from dongwonmall market for 1.5 mill WON. surprise surprise no english!. went to e=mart and checked the on display unit for zv1 and they have english menu. now i am trying to return it back hope they will give me back my money. I ordered another one from sony korea and hopefully this time will come with english menu. YES. i had the smallrig already lol
"To each his own," ie everyone's requirements is just a little bit different. For me traveling light is the highest priority for me Sony A6xxx is the "watch word." I only need to carry relatively compact, lightweight 4 lenses, Sony 10-20 wide angel, Tamron 18-300, Sigma 16mm f/1.4, & Sony 70-350 occasionally. For the longer focal lengths on a FX camera it entails way larger lenses. The current SotA in DX is more than adequate for my needs. To the equivalet range, I would need a suitcase to haul around the lenses.
Point well made. I get a bit tired sometimes carrying around FF lenses. I only use primes, so that complicates matters more. Thinking of investing in at least one Zoom lens. Any recommendations?
The FX30 is just much better suited as a cinematography camera. Its built like a tank whereas the ZV-E1 is kind of cheap feeling. Sure you can get away with using the ZV-E1 in professional work if you know what you're doing and anticipate its shortcomings into your workflow, I mean it is using a full frame sensor so its very enticing considering the price. But the FX30 is simply going to be much more reliable camera, and in a professional setting that's the most important metric to consider in my opinion. The FX30 is $400 cheaper with better build quality, and with the right lens you can easily match the low light performance and depth of field performance of a full frame camera. Sure the ZV-E1 is great on paper and can produce beautiful videos that can even match the more expensive FX3 at times, but at the end of the day its aimed at the casual consumer and its build quality reflects that. Just because its full frame doesn't mean its good for professional use.
I have the Sony 135mm 1.8GM, it is an excellent Lens, but I wish it was lighter and more compact, I rarely use apertures larger than 2.8, so now I use much more the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5
Hey there! I agree that the lens is a bit on the large side, but I love that about the lens because the large glass is pleasing to look at hahaha And if you dont use apertures larger than 2.8, why did you buy the 1.8? Just curious to know!!:)
@@daywalker4408 Because it was the best one performing in optical image quality at the time I bought, I always go for the best performing Lenses. I do not mind if it looks like shit as long as it performs, I do only look trough the EVF, I do not look at the Lens hahaha !
It's fast, much faster than I thought it would be. Honestly, with the A6400 and the 90mm, I can't tell a difference between the this combo or my full-frame combo!!
@daywalker4408 I often concentrated more on the gear than how much work or quality of work I was getting. I don't want to be disrespectful or anything, but often, clients wouldn't understand the difference between a full frame or apsc image results or the difference between a bokeh from an f2.8 or an f4 lens. We see it, and we think we always need the best and latest gear while often this is not financially sustainable for a company. I do like gear, though!
Dear Francois: I want you to give me this lens! Seriously, great video and looks like fantastic lens that I wish I had. I did look into Rokinons 135, but I couldn't convince my wallet.
Hahahahah, thanks, B! I'm in live with this lens so much because it is perfect in every way! Also, this lens is now in my 'Holy trinity' of lenses including the 24mmGM, 90mmG, ans 135GM! These lenses I can't live without and are doing 99% of all my workload! The money you get back from the A7c sales could go towards the Rokinon habahha
@@daywalker4408 well, it sounds like you need the whole quadrinity by adding the 50m f1.2!! The money I got from the A7C got swallowed immediately by the A7Cii... I might need to sell my kidneys.
Do you have old lenses that you started to use more? For me, it's the Sony 135GM! I love this lens and have found that it is more versatile than I thought! What do you all think about it?
If you are having this camera what about overheating bro, cause I am cinematographer and content creator from india and do you think it can survive here? Generally we shoot in day light not regular shoot just 10 sec shoot may be max 1-2 minute at 1080 60 or 4k 30 mostly in s&q does zve1 can do good here ? Our average temperature outside is 35 to 40°C
Hey, thanks for the comment! For your case, I would not get the ZV-E1. Indian heat and humidity is intense. I would recommend a camera with a fan like the fx30 or fx3. The A7s3 is good also because it has heat-dissapating hardware. However, if you will only shoot short bursts as you mentioned above, the ZV-E1 will be okay!
HI! this is a good news!. But, do you think the the sony zve1, "in super35 mode", would overheat as the same level as it is in fullframe mode? just for curiosity. I heard people says sometime in aps-c mode some cameras has less overheat than it is in fullframe mode . Greetings! succes with your channel!!
Hey, thanks for the comment and question! The Sony ZV-E1 will not overheat in the super 35 mode if you are using it for run and gun situations and not for long shootings like interviews that last for long periods of time. No need to worry. Just don't use it in the desert or extreme heat like most folks do when the test the camera and you will be fine:) Thank you for your wonderful support!!
At some stores in Japan, I think you can ask for the international version of the Sony camera. You have to pay more, though. Panasonic cameras have the option to switch to English. Don't take my word for it, though. I don't know about Fuji or Olympus....or Canon.
I wonder if I can ask for the international version of the ZV-E1 when they are available in Korea. Right now, they aren't. I'm sure I would have to pay a bit more, but that is something to think about! Thank you for that idea!!
Cameras are cheaper in Japan because of debut campaign, season sales, event sales etc. Sales people usually inform foreigners before buying. You're being scammed by scalpers, not Sony. Also check if your warranty is valid outside Japan.
Yeah, when I went to look at the ZV-E1 at the Sony Store, I asked them how much it cost and a bevy of other questions. They never mentioned there was no English menu. Anyways, yeah, I got scammed and the warranty is valid for a year, but I don't think I can get a refund for it. You have any suggestions?
@@daywalker4408 Come to Japan for holiday, chill here. Then go to Kitamura Camera or Map Camera to get appraised. Sell it if you agree with the price. Second hand cameras sell like hotcakes here. I checked ZV-E1 used price is 8% lower than new one. Not that bad.
Every camera should have english menu. I shouldn't matter where you buy it. It's crazy to don't accept return. That's normal thing that people want english menu.
I completely agree...The world is globalized now. There's no reason why we still have locked regions and things...Super upset about this, but there may be a silver lining somewhere:)
I understand that some language package can depent on region. But english is uniwersal international language and it should be available even if software/firmware depends on region. Other thing is region lock in samsung phones. You need to make few minutes call using local sim card issued in the area when phone was bought to unlock that region lock. (if you buy phone in Europe, you have to make 5/10 minutes call using european sim card until you'll be able to put sim card from other area).@@daywalker4408
I bought a Nikon z9 earlier this year in China. Wasn’t aware that it was locked to Chinese language. Wrote a post on Reddit about it. And it was my first post there. Same frustration about not having English as a default. All other products no matter cameras/ monitors/ laptops I bought before had English in them… anyway… Got 30 dislikes and comments that I’m supporting authoritarian regime buying on their market 😂 and what a peace of crap I am lol. Some people were saying why would I expect to have an English menu buying stuff in a non English speaking country etc etc etc. I got all languages unlocked for 20$ after some research though. What they are trying to do is to prevent import/export of grey market goods. That’s where this localization bullsh*t is coming from. Also there’s no option to turn off the shutter sound in Sony cameras in Japan if I’m not mistaken. And no gps in z9/z8 in mainland China. I don’t know where do they come from with these stuff, but it’s a fact. Thanks god I was able to add English into my new fx30. I completely understand author’s frustration. I’d sell it and get myself a second hand a7s3 if that makes sense
Certain cameras are regionally locked…to keep people from Buying them in one place and moving them to another . Usd pricing is higher . You got scammed my friend, I’m sorry
Unfortunately, this is the case:( Good lesson to learn, so now I know only to buy cameras at the actual Sony Store. Expensive lesson, but a great one. Thanks for the info:)
Would you mind telling me which tool you use? I even took the ZV-E1 to the Sony customer service center, and they couldn't unlock it because there is no English option, they said.
Later I found that I am using their latest code that includes unlocking all languages in the GUI, also I was using Linux so it was a bit easier for me to do the work. On Windows it requires some changes to the drivers in order to communicate with the camera. The name of the tool is called Sony-PMCA-RE It is not impossible to do that on Windows though, but it requires you get their source code, run some commands and replace drivers. After that you need to remove the drivers so that you can transfer files from the camera to the PC again.
Man, that's so disappointing! I thought those guys from your camera shop were your boys... But they did you dirty! I'd never shop there again! I'd probably not use it and just try to sell it as brand new! Good luck and have fun in Mongolia!!
Yeah, I was super disappointed in them. They will never get my business again. Will have to chop this up to learning experience. Definitely selling the camera as new. On the bright side, loads of new content coming from Mongolia! If I can ever get there hahahah
@@daywalker4408 I would do a whole video warning locals to boycott that shop... Or... Just move on and find inner peace in Mongolia... Looking forward to that content!!
