I am assuming you have vanos because you put S50 cams in. You might need to make sure you timed your cams right with the blocks and the vanos has full range of motion available. I had an issue where my cam timing was slightly off and my vanos was not able to get full range of motion thus I could have made more power even then in the two videos I posted.
Yes! I have an M50B25tu engine. The car was timed twice. With the correct bmw part! It’s been driving me crazy. It’s very literally unusable below 4100 with a Kassel tune. At 5000 goes ballistic…
@@jameshorine7983 I timed mine like 4 times and then somehow it was still wrong haha. I used the blocks but one of them was like a mm from going dead on straight. I got it to go down flat, but that meant it was still off unfortunately. It was fixed recently. The tooth that the vanos engages on matters too like I had to keep playing with that 3 times before I didn't have a check engine light and then still it was technically off a tiny bit so had close to full range but not quite. I mean I can't say it isn't tune related with you, but now I feel like I need a new tune because my long term trims are slightly over 10% added fuel so means it's adjusting a decent bit. Car feels good right now so maybe I should make a video. I bought the dcan + k cable to usb and so on so I can technically tune my own ECU now with my laptop, but I have not learned anything yet so not sure if I will get to that soon or not. I need some romraider lessons haha
did the turbosmart BOV actually help with performance..like more power? I am debating on getting one for my 18 GTI but they say its best to just keep the recirculating one because the BOV wont give anymore power.
@@totov7673 Wouldn't say a waste of money, they can have a performance benefit as in they hold boost better between shifts and have a lesser chance of leaking than a stock one. Stock recirc valves do start to leak eventually anyways.
@@FoxyMustang Not really, the factory intercooler does fine unless you're constantly doing back to back pulls mid summer or tracking the car. I watch my CAT's all the time, they rarely get above 110F in hard pulls and are back below sub-ambient within 30 seconds or so.
@collegestudent6071 yeah that's not really good. You lose so much power at about 4500 its not even funny due to heat soak. Plus it helps prevent lspi. On a hard pull right now the temp will stay pinned at 80. The CPE Lightweight intercooler is very well built and is double the size of the stock 1. HIGHLY recommend it. Get that a downpipe and a custom tune (drama tune does an amazing job).
still has cats? I wonder what the numbers would be with a full exhaust setup paired with it. I will find out soon as I'm doing an exact setup to yours + full exhaust.
M3 ST Suspension for the front (basically KW V1) and Bilstein B8 rear with Swift springs 10k and Vorshlag ride height adjusters. M3 front brakes (did m3 spindles, control arms and sway bar up front too) and e46 328i rear brakes
are the spindle's geometry a lot better than 328i non m suspension, is it just the different brakes config and arb attachment?. I was thinking about it but Idk if its worth it, or just to run e46 330i brakes.
@@r0xy149 the 96+ M3 spindles on my car let you run m3 brakes and increases caster and camber naturally so you don't have to go so far on your camber plates or do offset control arm bushings to get more caster. I run centered bushings because I find it gives just enough like that with my Vorshlag camber plates set to -3.6 degrees and still have room to go higher lol. I should turn it down to just -3.2 or something but I have a z3 steering rack for faster steering and it feels amazing like this and my tires aren't wearing that fast with my toe set to 0 in the front
Did you have the cams inspected or dropped in, any machine to them? Did you reuse the cam trays and caps from the m3 you got the cams from. Also at 230k miles have dont anything to the engine like piston rings refresh, vanos rebuild or a full gasket refresh? I have a m52 all the components you have just curious about the system integration and what steps I should take before the actually installation and tuning. At 200k miles
It ended up being 210 after one more run but same difference! Just s52 cams, electric fan conversion, m50 manifold, a chopped short Dinan cold air intake (not cold air anymore really, would probably be the same on the stock airbox) and the custom tune
The M50 intake manifold is very helpful in making more power here, it also compounds with the extra airflow afforded by the bigger S52 cams. Very nicely done.
This might be one of the best sounding demos I've heard on the JSX. Something about the JJ preamp tubes seems to open these amps up but also keeps fizz in check. Mine should be here tomorrow and I can't wait 🤘
El34 because it draws higher voltage or current (I'm not an expert on tube amps, but that's my understanding). Basically, you won't be able to bias it to the right spec on the 6l6 setting
I just ordered this amp through Guitar Center online, used. This is a World-class, high-end Amp for $800 used. I literally can't imagine a better value for a versatile, 3 channel high-gain head with every option you could want on the used Market. Can't wait to get her home !! ♫
@@sonics1kr886 it's more like 1400 something kg. I have full mostly stock interior/ac/Bavsound speakers, m3 knuckles/control arms, m3 calipers, pads, and rotors front/e46 brakes rear, Z3 M shift lever, 5 speed e46 Zhp shift knob, 3.23 lsd, ST coilovers front and koni single adjustable rear, swift springs rear, Vorshlag camber plates, 245 wide Falken fk510 tires all 4 corners, front sway bar, lightweight flywheel, m50 manifold, Dinan carbon fiber intake, electric fan conversion, dyno tune, Stromung exhaust. The only thing in really missing from the m3 is aero and the extra 0.35 liters displacement and slightly higher compression
This is a very interesting combo! You're getting some extremely cool tones with this Joe Satriani signature head paired with that Orange 4x12 cabinet. The clean tones are crisp and 'woody' but still quite warm. The crunch tones are very thick and biting, but also quite articulate (no wonder it's Satriani's signature head). Your playing is also really good, man! Does this amp take pedals well?
Thanks for the comment! The amp takes pedals great. I still use this amp and have a tube screamer, Klon clone, delay, reverb, and looper. I don't need any of those for it to sound good, but why not have options? Highly recommended.
Is your car stock with the s52 cams? Those rpms are smooth and I’m guessing it’s a manual? I’m slowly getting ready to manual swap my e39 528i ‘99 I’m so excited
The car is manual and has m50 manifold, intake, cams, cat back exhaust. Stock exhaust manifolds and cats, stock 2.8l block otherwise. The swap will be so worth it for you I hope you post some videos 😁
