G funk has been around in australia for polynesians for a long time. Due thanks to the one and only Samoan Legendary underated BOOYA TRIBE. Its how the bois got into Gfunk and samoans and polys/pacific. BOOYA started it all pretty much there from the start of GFunk, Rock. Rap style. And theres plenty more thats come with that Gfunk sound from samoans. Likes of POETIK, ZEEK THA UNIQUE, EKSEL (BNE), MO MUSIQ. MELODOWNS etc.

I was with the entrourage that came to Traffic, it was Kurupt, Luniz & Tech nine and a bunch of other lesser known rappers and Dj's, the promoter messed up because they thought it was their after party, when we got there the upstairs area was roped off for Kurupt n them, The Luniz were pissed because there was no women there just a bunch of dudes, but Kurupt was cool he was interested in hearing australian hip hop, in the end everything worked out and they stayed until the place closed and were hanging out the front with everyone else.
I was on that scene in Phoenix in those days. Swell Records and Clothing was my spot too. Z-Trip was “Tempe Bronks Krew.” You could find them every weekend on 6th and Mill in Tempe, AZ. The writers bench. That’s where you’d find b-boy and MC Battles, local graffiti artists such as myself and more. 93-96 was the golden age.
Kerser is easily the biggest Australian hip hop artist. The only other artist comes close is chillinit both very talented. but 360 is big. Hilltop hoods are legends, but sad truth they sold out mate. very sad since 2018. I respect the hilltop hoods but they absolutely sold out man, they need to quit man......
