Fantastic review pipe brother. I LOVE my classic finish black cherry wood Ranger. In which I only smoke Tewksbury Hobbit Weed. Every piper should grab one of these super cool pipes for themself.
I had a similar pleasant experience with them from over here in England. My woman bought me the "Wizard" with cherry bowl. She knew I wanted the Wizard design but I had neglected to tell her I wanted a briar bowl. She was kindly invited to send the pipe back and they'd exchange it free of charge, only asking her to cover postage and the difference in cost between the two materials. We also asked if they'd be happy to do a custom paint job which they did. At no extra cost. Nothing fancy. Black everything with a dark red brown rim. I absolutely love it. Had it two years now and it's a great smoker. I have to use a rubber mouthpiece however, as I don't enjoy wood in my mouth 😆 (simply a personal prefence). Anyway, great people to deal with, quality pipe, they've got the authentic feel of Tolkiens universe about them, and they're great value for money. Happily recommend.
There was an antique shop in Terra Alta West Virginia, that had a church Warden Pipe that was 7 ft long. They claimed it was made by a preacher in 1860, and they were asking $2,800 for it. Of course I couldn't afford to buy it. It looked like it was well smoked and they had a lot of documentation on it
Thanks for the question. When I travel with my pipes, I actually remove the bowl from the stem and store it in a small "pelican" style case or a "Herfador". You can be rough without damaging the pipes.
How do you carry your Churchwarden when traveling? A friend of mine uses a “Fairy Wand” holder that he found at a Renaissance Faire to slide his pipe into which ties around his waist. Is there a proper holder for traveling?
Richie, Vauen makes super nice pipes. Their LOTR inspired "Auenland" pipes are a more refined, filtered, made from traditional briar, and are more modern style Churchwardens. They are also more expensive! The MacQueen pipes are more rustic and more true to the books / Films in my opinion. Thanks so much for the question.
Good afternoon , I’ve just found your channel and wanted to say hello from North Yorkshire 🇬🇧 it’s great to come across another presenter with great content, I’ve hit your sub button my friend. Jonathan.
You are right. 35 yo, fell in love with the LOTR movie. Played the games growing up, read the books. Now, starting a new journey in the world of pipe smoking. This review was amazing, will buy. Thank you
I’m not a fan of filters. How does it smoke without the stinger or a filter? I’m used to the draw on the “fancier” MM cobs with the wider-diameter, unfiltered acrylic bits. Thanks!
Thanks and same to you and yours! Good question, more than likely the answer is "time and work". I think that most folks absolutely wear themselves out so that by Christmas day, they have nothing left😓. A shame really.
Got that pipe too…rusticated version…an excellent smoking pipe too! 😊 A merry Christmas season to you 🎄 and a very good start to your New Year as well 😄😉💨💨💨
Rattrays are fine pipes for sure. Another brand that I get at T/P's that is just and excellent Italian pipe are Lorenzetti, just beautifully crafted pipes. Merry Christmas to you to Sir. And God Bless
Wow, I commented on not just the wrong video, but the wrong channel🤣 I’d watched a Rattrays blend review but got interrupted, saw Rattrays in the title when I got back, and fired away. So…went back and watched *this* video. I like anything Prince-ish, and that medium length stem looks nice. One of my two 9mm pipes is a Vauen that came with two stems. I mention it because you brought up 9mm inserts…mine fit the shorter stem well, but not the ‘warden. Apparently the inserts are much like filters in that the fit varies per the pipe. Nice to get a discount for your viewers.
