Fūnem Studio is founded in 2015 by fashion designer Jantine van Peski to share her love for textiles, craftsmanship and her passion for weaving. Many years of creating textile objects provided her with in-depth knowledge of different materials and crafting supplies which resulted in a high quality collection of tools, yarns and wool.
We inspire and support a community of talented fiber artists while encouraging the less expert among us to discover and enjoy the pleasures of textures and colors. Sustainability and high quality are two of our key priorities, this is why we focus on supplies and materials that are natural and are produced with the lowest impact on the environment as possible.
This is not a beginner-friendly tutorial. They skip lots of steps at the beginning...and they don't show how to finish the weaving, with or without a fringe. It simply says to finish the weaving (yeah, but HOW?!?!). I really wish they had shown this to a beginner, listened to the questions they still have after watching the video, and then filled in the many, many blanks. I love this company -- their looms are gorgeous and the fiber is excellent. But if you're hoping for beginner friendly tutorials, this is not it. Search for "frame loom weaving" and you'll find others have posted good videos on how to warp and begin/finish weavings. The video I followed for warping showed how to do it with the heddle in place at the beginning...so much easier to follow than adding the heddle at the end.
Thia video seems to be missing some very critical set up information..? I followed along as best i could be now that im at the part where i need to roll the one side up, i have no idea, mine has been all connected.. what is going on👄
Just started & want to buy a heddle bar to make it easier. Watched some videos on how to string the warp & seems confusing to me. Some warp only 1 while others say to do 2 strings. Help!
Hi Thankyou so much for sharing this video. I love your idea of attaching the Heddle Bar to the Loom while warping. Happy Weaving Love and hugs Jen xxxx ❤❤❤🫂🫂🫂🌟🌟
This is the only video I've found that shows the weaving process with a heddle bar. It seems you can't beat with it the way you can with a rigid heddle. I wonder if you could beat with the shuttle, maybe after you've changed the shed and are inserting the next "row". It would make this go a bit faster and the row would be more even than if you used a comb/fork. Combs are fine for narrow warps but this one is wide.
The warping process looked complicated to me. Maybe it's easier to keep track of the threads without the heddle bar in place. This is slower than warping with the heddle bar though because you have to move the threads into the right place.
I don't know what I was expecting the answer to be (to the question of "How do I weave something longer than my loom" but it certainly wasn't something this straightforward and genius. One of those real headslapping "Why didn't I think of that" moments. Thanks so much for sharing!
Clever! I've been trying to figure out a way to essentially do this - a bit like the frankenchild of a frame loom and a rigid heddle loom. Sometimes a heddle bar works better for a particular project than a rigid heddle. Thank you!
