@@Screenwriting No airbags but I had a back protector. I think I answered your other comment but no significant injuries, just a couple hand fractures and a little concussion. I felt back to normal after about a week, and I should get the hand cast off on Friday :)
Thanks for putting that up it reminds us to straighten up and no brakes when we go off, to many guys crash avoiding the off into the grass, ya got to just straighten up and ride it out !! nice work.. DDR 29
odk how this ended up on my feed but that was me in front of you that race who went full throttle into the smoke cloud. I knew were close to me so I just sent it. lol
@pankral450 yes. Lift control off TCS on. IDK how mt10 is works. R1btraction control limits rear wheel spin. Lift control limits wheelie and slide control limits rear wheel slide sideways
The timing and lean angle data shown on screen is from my front and rear mounted GoPro 7 black cameras. I download the raw footage from cameras to laptop. Then i process the footage with software called gopro only made by race-technology.com/us/gopro I think i paid 60 or 80 dollars for the full license key. This is not a simple software to master but I like it
The whole story... Rained a little just before i went out. That turn 11 has a concrete patch at the apex. The concrete gets pretty slick when wet compared to the asphalt track. I running preheated slicks that dont do well when wet or cold. I chose to alter my corner entry line avoiding concrete patch. In doing so it altered my apex and exit. Doring exit i was not sure if i was going to get bike pointed down track before going into grass. In a split second i have to evaluate how much grip i have, space on track i have, lean angle, throttle control, bar input, etc. since i didn't want to hit grass with lean angle and crash, i had to choose to lean bike more or bail out, straighten up bike and go in grass with no lean angle. Since i wasnt sure how slippery the track was, i chose to bail out... Get it?
@@warmech2125 great point! A rider must crank their head around and make sure no bikes approaching before reentering track. I looked to be sure the coast was clear before coming back onto pavement. Had there been traffic i would have stopped or turned to stay in grass until clear to return
@@TopSpeedTommyI get it to each its own. But I would have just get it going off track. We can do the what ifs all day but I would have just went off then chance it like that.
Hey bro. I will look for you next race season or at a miami trackday. I am doing team hammer at daytona oct 19th if your interested to put some laps at daytona, lmk.
@@TopSpeedTommy Daytona has been on the bucket list, but won’t be happening this year. I was hoping to make it to GNF with WERA in October, but realistically I think I’m done until next season.
It was such a surprise my feet came off pegs and were by the tail. I was barely able to roll off throttle while trying to hang on bike. Wish I had 3rd pov footage
I have 04 too, i heard that 04-06 are prone to in/ex valve dropping. What about generator rotor and magnet fall off problem, did you change it with upgraded one. Mine have close to 50000 km, so there is a lot of life left in her, i suppose. For some time i have a weird problem, engine starts normal when cold and hot (right after i shut the engine down), but if i shut the engine and leave it to cool down it cranks a little bit longer to start. It cranks and then after cca 4 seconds fuel light comes on and engine starts. Other then that engine run smooth and pulls strong. I think maybe its the valve clearance are too tight or some thing with fuel pressure, maybe fuel pressure relieve valve on TB. I think that the fuel pump is OK because there is no problems when i push the bike hard, there is no stalling or sputtering. What do you think.
I never had a valve problem on my 04. I sold it at 88k miles and still ran great. My stator\generator failed at over 80k miles. It started making a whining noise and over a couple weeks of daily riding it got louder and louder and finally came apart. I replaced it with the upgraded oem part. The battery should be replaced every 1 to 3 years. If it cranks poorly sometimes, i would put a new battery in it. If the fuel light com s on when it shouldn't that may indicate an issue with the fuel pump or fuel system. Keep in mind the fuel pump is a self contained unit that has an internal fuel tank level sensor and other parts. The pump can have a secondary part fail but still keep pumping fuel normally. If I were you, i would make sure you have a new battery in the bike as this is often the cause...it still may have 13 volts but the cranking amps can drop off after a year and then bike has starting issues under certain conditions. If its not your battery then i dont know. Make sure when you turn on key, before hitting started that you hear the fuel pump prime the system.
Hey boss awesome video ! Thank you! One question , my whole reason for getting into this project is because bike was overheating super quick like idleing like no circulation and I flushed system soo couldn’t have been that… any ideas?
Sounds like thermostat might not be opening. I found that I would have to replace it periodically on all my yamahas...its about a 12 or 14 dollar part at partzilla.com. you will need to remove the fuel tank to replace. Feel free to email me at tomcatsurfs@gmail.com if you want me to send you a copy of the 04-06 r1 service manual.
Cool video...thinking about starting out track riding there and came across this. My friend said PBIR is closing down in April so I better get goin I guess
I think the sale has not actually closed yet. There is much opposition to the sale and razing of the track. We are hoping the extenuating circumstances prevent the sale from closing. I believe the city could block the destruction of the track. That being said, you might want to try it out by April. There is Homestead raceway and Jennings GP is another Florida track although its in North Fl.
I only ran s1, s2, s3,and three laps of s5 and 1 lap s7 due to technical issue. Are you on my cam in this session or another so i can go back and look?
Rider mistake. Never downshifted...6th gear when should have gone to 2nd as i normally do...that caused me to be in to fast so i stayed hard on the brakes as i turned in and locked the front when i overloaded the front at greater lean angle...understand? I did not know if i could get stopped before the wall so in that millisecond i chose to turn in knowing i was going down if i did. I dont have that bike anymore but i think i was running -1+3. Now i have a 2015 r1 which i am running stock sprockets.
I have an 05 R1 started to leak coolant from the oil pan hole not sure if I should replace the whole pump? Or what’s the seal I need to purchase and replace
Hi. nice video. i've got your same bike and the same problem; coolant leaking out from that hole. i guess the water pump is the problem, but could you tell me which part of the pump is the problem in more detail? thanks for the video👍
Hello, I did not tear down the pump to determine which part failed in my particular issue. My best guess is that an internal seal on the pump has worn out and needs to be replaced. check procaliber.com schematic to see if they sell a rebuild kit for the pump.
