I loved Crossover! Thank your daughter for the recommendation to continue that series. Long Way Down is so impactful! I've picked it up at used bookstores a few times and donated it to teacher friends for their classrooms because he's such a brilliant author/poet.
Oh I have 2 granddaughters - 12 and 14. The 12 year old reads like most of us eat snacks. LOL. She loved the Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I have it on my TBR as I try to keep up with her.
Lindsey I finished the women myself. I was not in Vietnam myself but in army and Vietnam vet. I just finishing all the colors of dark. You would like this. It is thriller and has short chapters.
Lindsey, have you read the Doll Factory and Circus of Wonders by Elizabeth Macneal? I'm reading her latest book, the Burial Plot and it's exquisite. I don't read a lot of historical fiction but I love her books so much ❤
The Mona Lisa was fun! And Remarkably Bright Creatures was so good. I need to try Rebecca Yarros.I’m curious about Casual Vacancy. I’m not a Harry Potter fan, well all my grandchildren are. I just am not into wizards etc. Anyway I think Casual Vacancy could be good.
totally agree with you - I am always recommending much older books to people - showing my age I think!! Sarah Donati's 'Into the Wilderness' series was so good. if you like long series I also am always recommending The Morland Dynasty series by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. ( it's longgg but not a series I read back to back ) Remember 'Evergreen' by Belva Plain? she's another author I recommend to those that love Rosamund Pilcher.
@JacquelineCaron Maybe you're right about age. I'm 68. Lol. And I remember Evergreen. Have it on my shelf. Never heard of the Morland Dynasty but will check it out. There was something better in the writing of older books.
Loved the Women by Kristen Hannah! I was a teenager during that time and remember so well how the men were treated. Didn't know about the women until I read the book. Frozen River was ok to me. Just for the Summer was way too much fun and loved it as well. My favorite new to me author is Megan Goldin with Escape Room being my favorite.
I just finished The Frozen River but it is an entirely different book. I think I read the wrong book for book club! Great video, Linsdsey! I didn’t love The Casual Vacancy. Hope you do!
Just received my kindle copy of When the World Went Silent that I didn't remember preordering! When I read the synopsis, I thought, "This sounds like a Lindsey..." and went searching for this video to make sure! LOL
Great Video! I’ve read most of what you suggested and heartily agree. I’m anxious for the 4th Duke meets Girl even though I’m not a regency reader. These were so entertaining. I have only read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame of Yarros. I guess I need to read some of her backlist. I read she doesn’t plan to write any more books. Have you heard anything about that? Also for anyone wondering about reading the A Court of Thorn and Roses series because it’s fantasy, these were the first fantasy books I read (outside of Harry Potter) and I think they are a great intro to the genre.
I love this idea! What a fun way to read what someone else is reading. I live about 20 minutes from. St. Louis. Hope you had fun. Did you go to Novel Neighbor. We could have met up.
I'm sure you already figured this out but Lea & Perrins is thankfully GF. Your fireworks extravaganza was awesome! Have fun at Lake of the Ozarks - that's where one of my best friend's family had a lake house when I was growing up, so I was there frequently. Haven't been in decades, though!
Thank you for not saying too much about "Frozen River". I just picked it up at the library and I am going to start it on Tues. So glad you guys had a happy 4th. 😊
Your videos are one of the highlights of my week! Also, pretty sure you’re my book twin! If you say that you like a book I’m almost guaranteed to love it too 😊📚
I loved The Lost Apothecary! I put it off for so long and then loved it! And I really want to go mudlarking!! I actually found a RU-vid channel of a mother and daughter who do it so I’ve been watching that. Good recs!
The most disturbing I’ve read is Such Small Hands. I didn’t know how to rate it either! I’ve wanted to read Glass Castle for so long. I need to get to that one soon.
