Loved seeing so much Tony Duquette and hearing the history. Hutton really brought the legacy of Tony Duquette to life. Thank you for sharing this talk.
How do you think the exiles like my parents feel, when they see the "new elites," that you rub shoulders with, living in their homes, with their furniture, and their belongings???? The belongings that they worked long and hard to acquire???? It is so upsetting to hear people in the audience laugh, while all these homes were stolen from their owners. And maybe you'd like to share the homes of the average Cuban, the grand majority, the crumbling ones you know? "Of course, haha, I didn't show you those." The ones with broken pipes and no electricity, and NO FOOD. How about the interior decor of hospitals? So clean and full of antiseptic supplies?
Recently, I visited Your RU-vid channel and I found some problems. I think and believe that if you can fix that problem, your channel will grow very gradually. Then your channel possible to grow. So are you interested in my service?
Thank you for posting this! I fell in love with American Mediterranean architecture in 2002 when I had to go measure a Palm Beach style house in - of all places - Indianapolis! The house was built in 1928, and although it was added onto in the 70s (yes, it's probly exactly what you think!), the original house was built of poured concrete and had some great architectural details! Fortunately, the client had a large budget, and after purchasing the house, we did a very nice addition / restoration (and, yes, the 70s addition was demoed!) that I think would have fit in around Palm Beach. I just love this style and Wyeth's work! As a classicist, I LOVE the Shaughnessy house! Thank you for including it! Wyeth's talent to span Mediterranean and classical is SO, SO IMPRESSIVE! And the plan for the Shaughnessy house really showcases his talent for creating a showplace on a site such as this. The first floor plan is so practical, but elegant and perfectly classical...not an easy feat, I can tell you from personal experience!
I was thrilled to listen to this great presentation. The connections between Russian and France extraordinary luxury items and jewelry are always fascinating. Thank you Wilfred!
I read this book last month, January 2024 - 5/5 ⭐️! This story captivated me right off. My curiosity of the woman that built Mar-a-Lago paid off. I highly recommend this read and enjoyed this interview ❤❤ Thank you 😊
I just saw BDV's exhibit in Legion of Honor in SF last week. I do admire this artist's unique imagination, vision and obvious skill sets applied in a very unorthodox reinterpretation of beautiful damaged objects. Listening to the artist, he is very excited in breathing new life in a most mutable way - it is HIS great artistic discovery. However, I had a visceral dislike and unsettling sense of its (for lack of a better word) emotional manipulative quality. I don't think it was intentional but his works, as I stand there gritting my teeth, just rubbed me the wrong way. Gimmicky at times, inventive most certainly, quirky and sometimes poetic . One's inherent wish to preserve or recapture the beautiful past is strong and to artistically explore, reinvent and exhibit its "brokeness" in new forms is a jarring contradiction.
Tropical glamour in an unexpected place. Amazed at the ingenuity and resilience of the Cuban people. Going to read this author's works. And I want to go to Cuba now more than ever and I've wanted to go almost all my life.
Excelente video sobre la construcción de todas las piezas y centros de mesa realizados por la artista. Realmente ayuda a visualizar y entender mejor el increíble trabajo, tiempo, dedicación y detalle que toma cada etapa. Muy instructivo!
Wonderful lecture. I'd suggest that Ms. Campbell write the script in the future and allow a more confident speaker to deliver the lecture. Voice frying and inflections are irritating to listen to.
That photo of Davies and MMP (at 48:00) is NOT with his daughter is NOT Eleanor Davies Tydings, but rather my grandmother, JED's middle daughter, Rahel Davies Walker. His older two daughters were very alike in appearance, but I know this to be my grandmother Rahel because I have both of those pieces of jewelry on her: an amethyst brooch and a filigrees gold cuff which she wore all the time.
Always love these! Thank you so much Hillwood! Alex is such an inspiration. Greetings from Stockholm. Hope to visit Hillwood soon. Discovered Hillwood via this channel.
I really don't care about your preferred pronouns. And honestly I think that Marjorie Merriweather Post would not like this Liberal woke ideology either.
Really enjoyed this virtual tour of the holiday trees. Quintece's tree is really astonishing. Love her creative talent!! Amy, as always, a great job. I cannot wait to come and see them this week. Thank you both for the lecture and thank you to the entire horticultural staff all year long. Happy Holidays -- Nina Gradia
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you! I just received Jeffrey's book, "Unearthed", and it is a beautiful and fascinating book. I remember visiting The Smithsonian about 45 years ago and still remember the Gem Collection. I could have stayed there all day!
Very interesting content but wish they had edited out the loud gulping sounds that they speaker made when she took frequent sips of water, it was very distracting.
