This is why cyclists should have registration plates as well as other road users; why one must be obliged without one so we can’t catch the perpetrators and challenge them as well? If there’s all this equality talk and all this lgbt+ going on so there should be law given to everyone who uses the roads; not just the regular kind; equality for all, right?
I wish the police would catch all the drivers who ignore red lights. Just because they pay car tax and have insurance they think they can do what they like!
If a cyclist arrives at a traffic light how does it know he's there? It doesn't, it's triggered when a car passes over the sensor buried in the road, cyclists don't exist. Pedestrians have a button to push at a crossing but still cross if no cars are around, red man or green man. If no cars are around a cyclist must wait forever, the irate drivers should understand the real world.
I would hazard a guess and say that all he got was a warning but what he did was far more likely to cause an accident than a car driver holding his phone to read a text in none moving traffic but the car driver will always get a fine, points on the license and an insurance premium rise for the next five years. Sort of unfair isn`t it, especially when so many cyclists totally ignore red traffic lights, ride on the wrong side of the road and ride on pavements that are for pedestrians only.
Those cyclists probably unaware of the existance of highway code. It contains laws for road users. I know one of the laws is that all road users MUST stop at red lights. You'll be lucky if you're not caught
OFFICER SMITH (noticing the cyclist) Oi, look at that! That cyclist just went straight through the red light! OFFICER JONES (mouth full of doughnut) What’s the harm? It's just a cyclist. OFFICER SMITH (sighing) We’ve got to uphold the law, Jones. He can’t just ignore traffic signals. OFFICER JONES (waving dismissively) Yeah, but it’s not like he’s driving a registered vehicle or anything. No tax, no insurance… no financial gain for us. OFFICER SMITH (leaning forward, determined) It’s not about the money, mate! It’s about safety! He could cause an accident. OFFICER JONES (taking a bite of his doughnut) Sure, but it’s a bit of a faff for a cyclist. Plus, we’ve got more important things to worry about. Like, um… this delicious doughnut! OFFICER SMITH (rolling his eyes) You’re missing the point. We’re here to enforce the law, not just sit back and munch on snacks! The traffic light turns green, and the cyclist is now riding past them, still oblivious. OFFICER JONES (glancing at the cyclist) See? He’s gone. No point in chasing him now. OFFICER SMITH (gritting his teeth) Oh, come on! OFFICER SMITH suddenly makes a decision, putting the van in gear. OFFICER SMITH (with determination) Right, I’m pulling him over. It’s the principle of the thing! OFFICER JONES (with a resigned sigh) Alright, but I’m not running after him. OFFICER SMITH turns on the lights and starts following the cyclist. OFFICER SMITH (smirking) Don’t worry, I’ll handle this. You just focus on that doughnut. OFFICER JONES (chuckling) If only I could pull over for a break as easily as you’re pulling over that cyclist.
In Wales where there are 20 mph speed limits almost everywhere, cyclists over / undertake cars obeying the speed limit because the speed limit does not apply to bicycles🤣
I am a keen cyclist and I always stop at lights etc. even if clipped in. All cycles should be registered and on the spot fines dished out for traffic infringements, the same as motorists. If they don’t pay confiscate the bike.
I so agree with these people who help object to cyclists running red lights. I am vulvvulnerable with Osteoporosis and have come very close to being hit by these inconsiderate. And basically yes , wicked people who care nothing about anybody but themselves.
How stupid can anyone be to run a red light right in front of the old bill. I stay well behind that line whenever I see them nearby. Only ever jump the red when it’s safe to do so and there is no traffic or pedestrians in sight. So late evenings and early mornings. These idiots do it constantly and one nearly knocked me off my bike going through a red at a junction when I had right of way with a green.
I once encountered a cyclist riding toward my car on a one way street, who proceeded to shout at me for not giving him room to pass. When I politely pointed out it was a one street, he said, and I quote "So what, I'm on a bike".
