I have visited Tobago twice last year and sadly my itinerary never seems to align with the days for Dirt Oven Bread in Tobago. I have tried two times and it is invariably ALWAYS on a Thursday afternoon you can try to think about buying this bread. Not Monday or any other day or time BEFORE Thursday. Quite unfortunate.
These ladies were so nice to me .. I love them. Got sick on the journey to Castara and without even telling them anything I was advised to put a *match stick* in my hair. I was even given a personnal sneak peek of the inside of the oven , shown how it is done and chatted for hours about life in Castara. It was the best 4 hours waiting for bread in my mom and myself life 🤗
Hi Ms. Khan. Would you by chance have a number for these ladies in Castara?? I've travelled twice before with my wife and kids just so we can buy some of that special bread but no one in the village seemed to know where the bakers were (or maybe so they wanted us to believe). If not, would you be so kind to give some directions??
Hi they are only there on a Wednesday and Saturday and you must go by 10am to put your name down. You cannot just turn up and get bread to buy . We waited for just over 3hrs to get our bread . We were informed though that there is another guy on Thursday and Saturday as well on the beach with another dirt oven if you dont get through
