I try to transform outdated and broken technology into profitable opportunities.
Starting the channel in February 2020, I didn't know how to use a screwdriver. Since then we've come a long way, from learning how to use a soldering iron, to diagnosing electrical faults using a multi meter.
Join me in my attempt to fix stuff and sell it for a profit. Plus you'll get to see me break a lot of stuff on the way 😁

TBH you can buy a refurbed working and intact ASUS for the same price. We have 2 of them. For a non working laptop with bits missing, I wouldn't have touched it. That having been said, there are many things you successfully diagnose and repair that I'd be afraid to go near.
Hey Love watching your videos i have a great passions for electronics and the stuff you do and would love to get into it at some point, you keep mentioning a Phil Decoda? Apologies if i have spelt the name wrong but is it possible for you to link his RU-vid page please?
Thanks!
As the saying goes, it's never the CPU.. until it is. But it's never the CPU (until it is). It's extremely rare for a CPU to be dead on a laptop, desktop or Mac (I mean obviously it happens, it's just much more likely to be a Mosfet, cap or inductor). It's certainly far more rare than the APU on a console going bad.
From Reddit contributor: "Unfortunately, even though the emmc board can be removed and physically put in another switch it will never boot from it, as the data on it is encrypted with keys unique to the cpu. In order to save any data from it you will need to get the original device working. If the CPU is fried, there is nothing you can do." i read that when i soft-modded my Gen 1 Switch but I wanted to reference the issue here. Then again, further down the thread - from another poster : "The answer to this is yes, you can. Contrary to popular belief. There is a caveat though. You need a v1 unpatched switch to do it. All you need to do is pop out the faulty switch emmc module and place it into the unpatched switch. Then you need to boot the unpatched switch into recovery mode, often called RCM mode. You can do that with an RCM jig, tinfoil or carefully bent paper clip on the right joycon rail of the unpatched switch. You'll also need a usb3c cable and a PC. When the switch is in recovery mode, connect it to the PC and inject the Hekate payload. The unpatched switch will then boot into Hekate and give you a bunch of options. Hekate is an open source bootloader and switch software utility. It's mainly used by people who want to haxxor their switches. It's also actually super useful for fixing broken systems with a bit of know-how and backing up data though! One of the Hekate options allows you to back up the user partition, which lucky for you holds the consoles save data and is also not encrypted. You'd then copy those files to the new switch by going through the same process but instead of backing it up, manually copying the save files from the backup to the new switches emmc module. It's pretty long winded but can be done in less than an hour." So, possible but some hoops to jump through.
Watched some older videos where you mention HDCP and not being able to capture the video. There are devices that remove HDCP from a HDMI signal, such as EZCOO 4K HDMI 2.0 Splitter 1x2 (amazon B083JVPXDY)
You should grab a Pokit. It's a wee phone software based multimeter and oscilloscope. Not sure how you'd connect to OBS but might be a good option when you need some basic oscilloscope stuff?
Double check the second switches version. If its the early first gen model it may be in RCM mode, connect to the computer and run tegrarcm to see if it is recognized. If it is it is stuck waiting on a payload.
Hi Joey I'd just like to say a big thank you for getting me into soldering and for adding the extra link for your Andonstar microscope I couldn't afford it when i first started watching you but when i had a look the other day on the new link £126 my hands had bought it before i even knew what was happening (Tip: Don't shop online when your drinking ;-)) please keep doing what your doing all the very best and cheers.
Seems like buying from vendor who sell in bulk is more risky. Because of other technics couldn't fix it, the overall chances to fix the item go even lower
Are these Switches serialized/coded? Is there a point that you can't combine two into one and still get a working unit? Seems those last two had different problems the other could fix...
