I found this channel after his passing, and have watched and learned so much about comics from the 2 of you. And now they are more enjoyable when I read them. Thank you Jim & Ed!
Many times, I've found that there is so much more detail in the darkened areas than you initially see. At first glance, you see a purplish/black shadow that swallows a hand or a leg, but under magnification you can see that there are details in that blackness. On the flip side, there are many times that I've realized, while trying to paint one of these works, that things are missing, and it's my eye or mind that is adding them.
Lady Death creator and Coffin Comics founder Brian Pulido places cease and desist on an indie Star Wars parody Kickstarter campaign... Google: "Steamy Star Wars Parody Lands Creators in Hot Water". Multiple cease and desists have been given out by Coffin on smaller creators, on the basis that other people apparently can't have characters with white skin or white hair. Brian is a litigious, controlling jerk.
To answer a few questions. I created the book through blurb. I did digital editing and combining of the 2 page spreads. And cropping and formatting of the close up on panels. Scanning from my personal collection of Bunko editions from the 70s and created the digital composite of two separate images to create the cover. I’m glad everyone enjoyed it
Missing Ed so bad. This vid just appeared back while I was drawing and listening his voice just gets me thoughtful on everything. Not only comics. I'm still not fully aware of what happened. Take care. Be kind.
AMAZING SPID-MAN #344 WAS THE 1ST APP. OF CLETUS CASSADY- THE SYMBIOTE HOST OF CARNAGE...& A SERIAL KILLER. INTERESTING ISSUE TO BE INFLUENCED BY... CONSIDERING WALKING DEAD HORROR CONTENT.
When I first saw this, I thought Miller was hacking here. Unfocused backgrounds, meandering storytelling. I felt he was the anglo-version of Jae Lee who would kayfabe his backgrounds and guns and whatnot. I won't say he is hacking here anymore but he is being INCREDIBLY self-indulgent. Which isn't being honest with your employers.
1974 was the year that MAD had their animated special that highlighted racism, the floundering healthcare system, and the automotive industry shrinkflating their products. All things we still suffer from today thanks to boomers.
What a flashback... I read that Terry Brooks book "swords of shannara" when i was 12 and other books he wrote, like "Magic Kingdom for Sale". Hope all is well Jim! Sending you good vibes!
