Breaking the bad, fixing the ugly and creating the inevitably insane! Welcome to Robinson Labs! I'm Dave Robinson and I'm an I.P.C technician that loves to tinker with anything electronic! As i make videos I will show you the correct way to solder and make projects better. Then there is my assistant Stacey, With help from her there is no stopping us!
The major part of this item is the code which apparently he lifted from github (it's shown here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6zZjSFef4yA.html) and all he's done is make a custom pcb for an arduino (they give you the schematic) installed the lifted code and then slapped his name all over it as an "original" product. What a scam.
Hi I have a webasto thermo top c 5 kW heater, I after one of your PC boards, I've looked you up on Google, but I can't find you, thank you also thank you for your videos
Großer Respekt für die Reparatur...ich hatte das selbe problem und konnte erfolgreich reparieren, mal ganz davon abgesehen wie teuer diese Steuergeräte sind und es niemand reparieren kann oder möchte 🎉
What changes have you made to the gateway modul, and what pins on the gateway is connected to the burner ? I ask because i am trying to get my burner´s to communicate via can bus, but all i am getting is a no comm, both in the car and on the bench. tried with 3 different gateways, and 2 burners, with no errors in the touran and on the bench (in WTT via w-bus/k-line). Burners do not run in the car, but works with WTT to start them.
Good video. I have a Thermo Top C from a 2004 Range Rover, do you know if this unit is analog, and if not what is the best way to tell, since as you say pinouts are hard to find?
Can you please post the exact specifications of the replacement components there? I managed to find the 10k ohm , 7.5k ohm and 49.9k ohm resistors.. but they have them in many mW specs like 100mW, 0.2W, 0,3W.. so not sure wichs is needed. Also found the mosfet (are they all the same BTS117TC?) .. Failing to identify those JRB capacitors tho. Can you please post the details? Thanks and awesome work there..
I can fully concur with you Iam having to replace the clutch i bought from these conmen for my Corsa Diesel. I was never satisfied with it from day one,the clutch didnt start to bite until the pedal was almost fully released,on phoning Techniclutch they tried to blame the garage for fitting the slave cylinder incorrectly, after a short while it started to rattle when stationary in neutral which is probably down to the play in the centre hole and/or the side play and now its started to slip after being in the car for only 24k miles which is probably down to the inferior friction material. There is a lot of bad reports about this company online,i just wish i had read them before i was taken in by their too good to be true prices.
I recently purchased a "Plug and Play" - W bus remote kit for my VW Touran from eBay with the hope of using it to operate my Auxiliary heater as a Parking heater (This kit was meant to be plug and play!). However, when I wired it all up, I found that the remote did not work. After contacting the supplier of the remote kit multiple times ( and getting no help from them at all), I was fortunate to get in touch with Dave from Robinson Labs. Dave is an expert when it comes to Webasto heaters, and he went above and beyond to help me get my W bus remote to work. I sent my spare auxiliary heater to him for refurbishment, and he was kind enough to explain everything in detail and sort out the ceramic and water pump. The powder-coated grey and black finish on the refurbished heater looks amazing. With Dave's help, I am able to preheat my engine and prevent cold start wear and tear and also will have the benefit of a defrosted windscreen next winter :) I am so grateful for all of Dave's assistance, including him taking a two-hour drive to check the coding on my car and enable the parking heater mode on my car's current aux heater. I highly recommend Dave's services to anyone with Webasto issues. He is truly an expert in his field, and I believe he should sell this "upgrade" as a package to others who are looking to enable their VAG parking heaters and also get their auxiliary heaters serviced properly. Thanks again, Dave
Hello and thank you for all your videos. In france we are a large community Who have Volkswagen t5 (caravelle Multivan etc) between 2003 and...2012 perhaps. We all have the same defect with our webasto thermo top c. The ventilation of webasto is always turning, it doesnt matter if the vehicle is running, stopped, with key or not. It kill the secondary batterie and, of course, stop ventilation. During this time , i think generally the webasto is not hitting. Do you know this defect ? And the way to repair ? Many thanks for your videos. Thats very helpful and sorry for my english.
Yes new version coming soon with USB type C connector, The software is still USB 2.0 mind you so it will run with backwards compliance, that means there will be NO USB 3.1 speeds as the software can not sample that fast nor can the heater! Heater connection speed is only 115200 Baud which is only 11.520KBPS so well under 480MBPS of the USB 2.0 standard! Should be ready for late spring.
Hi. Is it possible to use petrol Termo Top C with diesel fuel? Iam pretty sure the "steel" is the same inside, only different is the software. But, how diferent? What exactly? Should I replace the board? Or is it possible to update the soft to diesel version? Or the dieffrence is so small and not need to do anything, just plug and play? I got brand new TT petrol and would like to install it to my diesel car, thatwhy Iam asking. Thanks.
They are the same (sort of) in the software there is a slight fuel pump timing difference however, Its the fuel pump that is different! If you put petrol through a diesel pump it will melt the seals and grind it with no lube! use petrol pump for petrol and diesel pump for diesel! if its universal pump you should be ok, but would recommend adjusting the c02 to match the fuel used! Check out the data sheet for fuel flow rates
@@robinsonlabs Install it. Petrol Termo Top C working👌with diesel fuel. But, I just call my Thermo Top C, it is actually not C, its P. Its very rare model. Do you know about P anything? Why Webasto made model P? For what?
Hi I have a webasto with the exact same board. Is there like a pattern, which parts cause which malfunction. Or else, is there a pattern, which error is caused by which part? Great Video
With that board problems arise from aging of the caps that leak, then cause more problems! but caps leaking only really affects the (91452C) board, other boards all have there own common faults!
Thank you so much! i will be doing a soldering tutorial in the next video, showing what tools i use while recreating an old Land Rover board from scratch that is not available any more!
@@robinsonlabs It's the 'Light Check Module' - slightly odd name, but it essentially controls all the lighting circuits in the vehicle and I think also stores a backup of the odometer value. Not sure if it does the seats as well, I'd guess that may be a different board. The LCM is located in the right of the drivers side footwell and suffers from moisture ingress as per everything electrical on a range rover!
@@robinsonlabs That's good to know. I was an electronics tech way back and moved on to elevators with relay logic was like going back in time. Eventually became microproccessor controlled , much more fun but everything in between, ugh. Lotsa pc's and shooting them But I loved it. Great what you're doing !
I have a similar but not identical thermo top c/z controller from BMW, it uses the same circuits shown in the clip and the same connections 1=communication, 2 Can Hight, 3 Can Low
Reminds me I still haven't sent you my 91452C board with the fan MOSFET gate drive fault. Made me think when you were talking about the MOSFET on this board operating in the linear region.
Hi, i use this with both leds on: www.aliexpress.com/item/33003736533.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.3e723f7fOLPlXY&algo_pvid=10998965-3960-466b-b383-d1ff80e31cef&algo_exp_id=10998965-3960-466b-b383-d1ff80e31cef-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000006044528036%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21GBP%2111.4%2110.25%21%21%21%21%21%402102160416729701625772701d06cd%2110000006044528036%21sea&curPageLogUid=zZsf1z6wa0L2 It must have both 365 and 395nm! regards
Rob is definitely pleased. I will be recommending you. The water pump that came one that webasto was sized when I got it. I had replaced it but clearly it wasn't going to help with all those issues. Looking forward to lots of heat again! Thank you.
Boards or parts aren't sent out when not paid in full from the start. The first time it was sent you never accepted it from the post office, therefore it was returned back to us. We emailed and reminded you that postage was to be paid for it to be sent again, which you wasted a couple of months before once again being reminded to pay. You eventually paid what you owed, once again refused to collect it, which meant it came back a SECOND time. Dave will, as always provide tracking for products sent, if the customer refuses to collect these items upon their arrival, then I do not see how this could be our fault. Dave will show on the next video, the tracking, with postage on US this time. Let's just hope you actually accept it this time.
