Whole Other World is all about Scuba diving of all sorts. We want to take you with us and provide a first person account of what we see as divers. Our goal is to provide a video library of our local wrecks and dive sites so that people may know before they go or just explore from home. Whether we're wreck diving, culling Lionfish, or hunting for fossils we hope you come along for the experience!
Thank you for this. I served on the Robison ("Rockin' Robi") from 74-76. I knew she was sunk for the reef, this is the first vid I've seen. Part of me is a little sad, but much better this than being beached at the breakers and cut up for razor blades.
@@b.wiggins714 I know yall have some to spear up there too, I’ve cleaned a few up from the Aeolus… not the Caribsea though. I don’t usually spear around 60+ Sand Tiger sharks😅
@@Wildlings1o1 they are invasive because they are from the Indo-Pacific part of the world and now they are taking over the Atlantic Ocean. They are spreading at an uncontrolled rate because they have NO natural predators on our side of the world.
Hey brother, really enjoy your video - just one question. I know your spot is probably sacred, but I was stationed in the Navy of the Cooper River by the weapon station in goose Creek years ago. Are you that far up the Cooper?
Thanks! Yes we do all of our cooper river diving up north from the navy station. We kind of just hit different spots all the time, you never know what to expect
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba cool! Well, thank you for the reply and good luck and stay safe out there. Hey one more question if you don’t mind, do you have to deal with gators up that far?
@@b.wiggins714 there are gators in that part of the river but they are mainly more of a threat during mating season. I always tell my divers to stay away from the banks or swim towards the middle of the river if they come up close to the edge. Gators are usually at the surface so you aren’t likely to bump into one at the bottom while diving. If you live in the area you’re more than welcome to come out with us sometime. We dive the river more in the fall or winter.
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba Awesome! I'd love to go with you guys. I'm a former Navy EOD diver and have ALWAYS wanted to get some big teeth. I live near Wilmington NC and find them on the beach at Topsail Isl. (not the Megs). Here's a story you may have heard of last summer.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7z7xwQ-i4kQ.html Let me know how to contact you for the chance to go. Ben Wiggins Hampstead NC
WELL DONE on your buoyancy control as well as your line placements/tie-offs!!! I was expecting to see the "TOP DOG" (Snoopy riding atopp the alligator, which represents the Amphibious Force "Gator Navy") in the tile on the deck. THANKS for the tour! I deployed with her in my ARG (Amphibious Ready Group) to the Mediterranean Sea with the U.S. SIXTH Fleet back in the mid-1970s. You can never get enough dives on SPIEGEL GROVE!!! I'll be back!!!!!
Thank you for your great feedback! I do have another (sorta cheesy) video on how to find Snoopy on the Spiegel for those who are interested. It is always interesting to hear about first hand history of this ship. I bet diving the Spiegel after serving on her is a really cool experience. I wish I had more time down there to explore more thoroughly but that's part of the allure I suppose.
Beautiful diving conditions on VANDENBERG!!!!! Been a few years since I last dived her. I need to return and do some more penetration explorations! Thanks for the tour!!!!
I cant wait to get back down to the Vandenberg to dive again. I feel like I barely got to scratch the surface on this one. I could only dive recreationally since I flew down but I would really like to do some deco dives on this one some day.
AMAZING!!!! AT 2:58, you are looking at the Steam Drum on the 600 psi Boiler which means you are in the"Fireroom", where the boilers are located. The Engine Room will be in a separate compartment AFT of the Fireroom. That's where the steam trubines and reduction gear are located. The propeller shafts are connected at the aft end of the Reduction Gear. GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT penetrating the Fireroom!!!! Next drop, you might look to penetrate the Engine Room. THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!!!
That’s great information I will look aft next time I go back! I'm pretty sure I know which hatch is the one I'm looking for now that you mentioned that. Thank you
The machinery room is divided port and starboard, not fwd and aft. This is the aft machinery room, engine room on port side where he first enters, fire room on starboard. fwd machinery room is opposite.
