In order to manage a species you would need to know the average size. You would need to measure each fish. Then remove medium to small fish, allowing good breeder genes to prevail. Considering you did none of this............ Fuck you.

Eating fish from a retention pond is insane... Unless you have some type of official request from an HOA or whoever manages that pond can't take it on yourself to do this
That is a retention pond just like mine and many, many others that I fish on a regular basis. You do NOT eat fish from a fknn retention pond. If you don't know why then you don't need to be fishing period. The chemicals used in retention water flows are absolutely some of the worst on the planet and are in high concentrate. Bass, carp, crappie, bluegill etc are very hardy fish that can withstand these chemicals, however it renders their flesh toxic. So basically you prepped chemically tainted fish with high levels of mercury included. As far as population control, you did nothing good. You pulled young potential breeders and many were very healthy. Just 2 kids being clowns just like the old crusty one too.
It is a private pond. Usually these ponds are only for the neighborhood who lives there. If these guys don't live there they can be arrested for trespassing.
