I dont think the " interpreters " at the native site do much research but might be told what to say? Just because someone says they are native doesnt mean they have much accurate information on period culture.

@andriylehki947 The old French names for towns and geographical areas in Mississippi Valley reflect that sound as in Illinois. According to a local French professor, these are the original correct pronunciations from the French settlers of the 1700's. French has changed since then to the bu-a sound. I don't mean to complicate the controversy around this name.

what's interesting is how close it is to the Bunker museum I volunteer for here in UK, admittedly it's nothing on this scale (being a two level semi-sunken blockhouse with only one level below ground) but the 100 level is almost a carbon copy of our top floor.

You are not God's. You & Co2 are not causing the Earth's double torus magnetosphere to increase. The precession of the 7 north stars is. We eclipse the equator of the Sun's Oort cloud magnetosphere at the alpha omega equinoxes every 12,000 years for a 1,000 years causing these the climate change END TIMES. These are just the birthing pains. Mother Earth's WATER won't break until the MOON pulls the Earth's increased magnetosphere & oceans OUT & around the planet east to west as in the days of lot & Noah. First one of about 19 will happen in 2033 & every 40 year thereafter. The last time we eclipsed the equator of the Sun's magnet these happened Gobekli Karahan tepe, Younger dryas, clovis people, Washington scablands, Sphinx water erosion. Jesus like Lot & Noah before warned us. Covid is Baby Boomers turning into Seniors Bust due to seasonal Flu & old age.

As an Acadian, I am not offended by the depiction of the Acadian culture through the character of Évangéline . Indeed, many of my relatives steeped in the Acadian culture in years past learned not to offend the English as they were powerful and often vengeful. The community my father was from on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia was very poor and Évangéline would not have been out of place in this community even in the early 20th century. However, in this 21st century things have changed dramatically. Acadians are no longer subjugated by the English and take great pride in their Acadian and first nation heritage. They were never a weak people but were a people who felt powerless due to very real circumstances. They adapted to the realities of their time and continuing to do so now that those realities have changed. I believe Évangéline was a realistic snap shot of a random Acadian women of that time and it is wrong to try to judge her by the realities of the 21th century.

Sorry but from what I see you would have to go back in time and bring 17th c members of Powhatans Condfederacy to the present day and staff the native exhibit with them. Many Modern day people claiming native ancestry aren't going to have the right look and therefore the accuracy of the native village will be compromised. Having folks with Euro, afro, or hispanic physical features misrepresents the past. You should inform the public that there are differences between modern natives and ones from centuries past. Educate them, not confuse them.

Fwiw, Russian aggression has been a concern since 1917. Then came Nazi aggression, and the WW ll Allies, NATO and NORAD in self defense. The Canadian Forces trained to fight on a nuclear battlefield and survive a nuclear war. The Leopard tank display in the video demonstrates our diverse nuclear war survivability in a protected and filtered environment. As for Putin's invasion of Ukraine under the threat of nuclear war, I think it's time to call his bluff.

A great book to read about the expulsion of the French Acadians from present day Nova Scotia ( Acadia ) is Madawaska by the author Willo Davis Roberts it gives a historical event of what it was like for the Acadians in the 18th century before 1755. The story concentrates on the love between two people Soleil Cyr and Remie Michaud who found love among the turmoil and upheaval of the Acadians plight in Acadia specifically in Grand Pré where the story starts off. Soleil Cyr gets separated from her family, her siblings, her parents and nieces and nephews as she and her husband Remie Michaud make their way North to the Quebec border to an area in Northern New Brunswick known as Madawaska that borders the State of Maine.

I appreciate your interest in my family's legacy in New Paltz. I wish you were not so (ignorantly) judgmental as to take the side of the communist propaganda, assuming the Huguenots were somehow "evil" or gasp! "racist." Having studied the Huguenots in France and in particular New Paltz for many years, the truth is in fact admirable and few living today are capable of living to their example. I understand your generation has never known pride in your own legacy but rather has been taught nothing but self-loathing and self-contempt. I hope you transcend such programming and embrace your heritage for our accomplishment rather than anachronistic political "failures" imposed by people not of our kin and certainly who never themselves faced situations at all comparable to our own ancestors. Adieu.
