Thanks for all the hard work! Fortunately I can't confirm that long distance is a victim of it's own success. Other than juggling, each boomerang world championship since 1998 (exceptions 2006,08,20) has had a separate long distance world championship, coexisting with the team cup and the individual world championships (6 disciplines) and the public "gel day". I'm grateful for that! It's still one of the most frequently asked questions to me, when people ask me about boomerangs: "How far can it go out there and still return?".

@avboom99 4 дня назад
Of course LD remain an amazing, fun, and fully proper boomerang event. Compared the days (into the 1990's, more or less) when it was contested on the same day and fields as other events, LD boomerang technology and event logistics evolved more than for the others and necessitated it's separation from them. "Victim" is not the best word, as it's been an evolutionary process with the thrower's and spectator's safety considerations guiding it to today. All good. As a USBA tournament director, my usual field (the largest in the area) is not quite big enough for LD to happen safely for a group, which is unfortunate if I would consider hosting a Nationals or WBC, but is what it is.

Vermont has several different issues one of them being race the other being organized crime if you could get a handle on the latter than you would see racism disappear.The organized crime in rural areas comes from old mafia being placed there in the 1970s-1990s who because of maybe karma there kids became addicted badly to drugs and try to play out the tough guy image of there fathers bullying and participating in fiendish hatecrimes that are covered by a most corrupt police force.They need to obtain new black officers and fbi to maintain multiple programs in that state in particularly one's that the mafia invested in years ago which was HUD housing,it needed to be properly monitored by the fbi

Looking forward to revisiting Woodstock this summer with my Alaskan grandchildren. I have always loved Woodstock especially because my parents went to high school there (Robert Merriam and Shirley Perkins). I had my first student teaching assignment in Woodstock. Thank you for the history!

I vehemently disagree with his comment about Samual Richardson. Clarrisa is among the two most eminent novels of all time. As for his three part lecture on Moby Dick and Melville, I think it’s the most informative and insightful I’ve ever heard.

Out on Block Island the Historical Society explains their spectacular collection of stone walls to an era of assistance from an influx of indentured servants. Many from Scotland. One needed to build 13 miles of stone wall to purchase freedom. Maybe the indentured service was wider spread?

Vermont is Berkeley if it were a state. Vermont is the best New England state. From birth to the age of 4 I grew up in Ely and I had a mountain in front and behind my home that I remember climbing and hiking on. Vermont is my early childhood and even though I then moved across the river to NH for the next 20 years and then to CA Bay Area, Vermont is still the magical realm of mountains and valleys. Vermont is Eldritch.Vermont is The Shire in the Middle Earth of my life.

I am proud to support the Killington Music Festival. KMF is a gem. Dani Andai, the faculty, and staff of KMF provide a superior experience for young musicians looking to take their musicianship to a higher level. Their support and mentorship are equally important as improving their technique. The faculty concerts around the region are equal to anything you can find in any major city's concert halls. The students' concerts provide exposure to quality chamber music to many in the community who otherwise would never hear it. There is a reason that KMF has been around for 42 years.

We definitely live in an age where the idea of "mainstream gnosticism" can exist without a single shred of irony. Kinda like "popular punk music". This is a good talk, and i want to add something that sprang to mind in their fairly brief discussion of esoteric beliefs. A great deal of occult/esoteric practice/belief deals directly with the idea of the "union of the opposites". In fact, one of the heretical gnostic sects (supposedly) venerated earthly sin as NECESSARY for salvation. Hopefully this idea stays in the long, nearly forgotten past, but i am not so sure we wont see a rise in this kind of thinking.

One of the things that is just simply wrong is the "Because it is theirs...' line made in reference to landing a whale in port and which apparently automatically becomes the property of the King of England. But this is indeed a wilful corruption and deceit of the facts of the matter. If I may: 'A charter granted to Hilary, Bishop of Chichester in 1148 gave him the right to “any whale found on the land of the church of Chichester, except the tongue, which is the King's.”[3] The English king had asserted the right to the entire whale by 1315 when Edward II reserved “to himself the right of all whales cast by chance upon the shore.” [4] Whales came to be known as “Royal fish”, the disposal of which was an exclusive right of the monarch, or his local representative.[5] Indeed, to this day, the Crown Estate asserts that "theoretically The king can claim ownership" of beached whales and other "Royal fish".' Less of the anti-British prejudice and propaganda if you please!

I met Macy when he was the director of Imageworks photography school in Cambridge, MA. in Sept 1973. I was a 20 year old photographer looking to expand my knowledge of the medium. He took an interest in my work and encouraged my further education. Long story short: About a dozen years later (with an MFA behind me) we became collaborators and studio mates in Boston's Fort Point Channel. Macy is a generous, thoughtful, kind person whom I love and thank for having had such a positive effect on my life.

Sonny, your trio is worthy of the talent of the great 500 Club of our childhood in beloved Atlantic City of post WW II America. Talented trio and smooth arrangements. Great listening. Envy the laid back Woodstock way, as compared to my DC Swamp! Bravo, keep producing great music with the outstanding members of your trio and I will listen!
