i mean chronologically i beleve war of wrath is the final defeat of Morgoth where as Time Stand Still (At the Iron Hill) is Morgoth at the height of his powers so there is a circularity to it

Speechless about this performance, so epic in many ways, blind guardian has a strange ability to having inspiring songs which feel truly inspirational that seperates them from other bands.

The problem is Tolkien never lived to complete it, and it was pieced together without much adding-up by his son, some parts being clearly unpolished/unfinished. The first two parts, Ainulandale and Valaquenta, have a bible-esque character to show how the world and its races was created, I think that's what you're talking about. Quenta Silamarillion has the actual story that names the book, while Akallabeth and Of The Rings of Power and the Third Age were written to tie into the story of LotR.
HurricaneTheHunter Actually, according to Christopher Tolkien himself, The Silmarillion IS complete, the problem was that J.R.R. Tolkien never got around to revising the bulk of it. Also keep in mind that when Christopher Tolkien was putting the book together, a huge chunk of Tolkien's notes were not in the families possession. So given when he had to work with, he did a fantastic job. At least I think.
@@WillEnglish Another problem was the fact, the J.R.R started to change some parts of the lore, but hadn''t got enough time to change every instance of it in every book, ie. Gil-Galad parents.
I have the german transaltion (german is my first language). Some years ago I started reading it, but only the first 30 pages. I expected a story like lord of the rings, but it was more like a mythology, as far as I remember. So I was a bit dissapponinted. But maybe I should try it again. For me Nightfall is the best metal album, so I should know the story behind it.
I recommend it if you have some time though. If Tolkien would've lived to complete it, it would've been probably as famous as LotR. You might want to pick up a translation though if you're not a native English speaker, it's has quite a difficult language.
One of the most EPIC songs ever created. And not epic in the overused modern sense, I mean to the fullest. I'm totally pumped to grab a sword and shield and go into battle now.
His son edited and published the Silmarillion. It was already designed as a history, and pretty much done. NOT to be confused with Unfinished Tales, which was NOT completely written out. Chris Tolkien edited and published this as well, with about 9489732890 footnotes to ruin the stories within.
