TKD is a modern martial art which continually evolves , that’s what the official ITF ensure , this pattern and version of TKD is 1970’-1980’s - ITF TKD has significantly evolved from this, shame instructors won’t evolve, all they teach is a less efficient and effective early TKD version. The students think they are learning something that they are not.
What I will never understand is why these type of schools try to re-invent the wheel. There is an encyclopedia that Gen Choi left for us to follow. While this is not the worst Chon-Ji I have seeing, it does have some mistakes based on the changes Gen Choi himself did to separate and distinguish from Karate. But regardless why is it these schools show low block with the hand completely extended? The book literally says "najundae palmook makgi" low section forearm block. But they don't block with the forearm, they passed the block. Also don't call it inside block because is not, is called Middle Inner Forearm Block "gaundae an palmoook makgi". Like I said, not bad compared to others but not correct in certain areas.
if it's taekwon-do ITF, then you've practiced it wrong, you're missing an absolutely essential sine wave for ITF, and the blocks are not led from the shoulder like in shotokan karate, but in front of the shoulder at 45°
They are doing the patterns like Gen Choi did it in 1960's when they were similar movements like Karate. He then introduced the Sinewave and relax motion in order to look different than Karate and be more efficient in the techniques.
There was a division between the general and a number of the pioneers, this extended to America and maybe where tht has been bridged in some places it didn't reach here 😢
My wife and I have just started TKD here in Glasgow Scotland. Our daughter has been doing it for 4 years since she was 5. So we are all at the same level. This was very helpful.
Out of curiosity what portion of the foot is making contact with the intended target? Also what is the intended target? I understand self defense active is different from sport but it should never be so different that self defense is almost not in the picture
That's not taekwondo itf, they are making a copy of the real taekwondo itf and it is poorly executed, chon ji should not be executed by karate martialists
Tkd originally started with no sin wave and eventually it was basically added to make tkd more different then other eastern martial arts but it’s a fail because it’s not even practiced in sparring
@@anti_hero_660 If that is the case then the stiffness of Karate is neither used on sparring nor long stances. You cannot mix Patterns movements with Sparring they are totally different. Sinewave was not developed to be used on Sparring, it was used to learn how to relax the body and generate more power in a short distance.
Sine wave is about relaxing through movements bringing tension only at the point of impact and to drop your weight into movements to maximise power generation.
My instructor was taught the small up and down movements came from the change in stance relax up drop down. Just like how you walk with a very slight bobbing motion. Bit the over exaggerated extreme sine wave. Hip and a bit of sine wave is yet most natural
