Finally! A new video. Good stuff, fellas. I've built one Special Hobby kit: The Bücker Bu-181 Bestmann. It was a pretty good kit. Detail was nice and came with a small bit of resin and PE. The lack of locating pins was no big deal since I often cut them off anyway to make a better mating surface and to aid in alignment... especially fuselage halves. The only challenge I ran into was the wing trailing edges. The mating surfaces came in contact slightly in from the very edge so it left a gap the length of the edge of the wing that took a bit of work. Hopefully some day you'll get that one on the bench in front of the camera. Keep on truckin', amigos!
Great idea for the road wheels. I do have a question about the back side of the road wheels on german armour. I've seen some modelers leave them in the red oxided colour. Is this right, or did they paint paint them like you have done. I tend to paint over the red oxided.
Yes please do more of these! My wife bought me an old Tamiya Marder kit at a garage sale for 2 dollars a few years ago. Thought I should put it together just because. Turned out really well, for me. Had a bunch of fun, did some camo and she appreciated a lot more than my other stuff. Thanks guys👍👍

FIRST TIME SEEING THIS 18 April 2024…. I really enjoy seeing these videos of the IPMS SHOWS Really great builds, dioramas Displays… Some real artistry… YES, building MODELS is an art form… Great job with photography You could see details of the builds… YOU HAVE MY LIKE 👍 CHRIS 🇺🇸
Like most, I use Tamiya with reliable and predictable "chipping" success. However, if you don't put a gloss coat down over your base, before the hairspray, you can easily "chip" down to the bare plastic. Disastrous results. With Mission Models, I have had zero success with "chipping." What you get is the paint smearing and coming off. It is an interesting effect but not the true "chipping" you get with Tamiya.
There 's a Bedford QL truck ,left over from WW2 ,near where I live , just dumped in an abandoned factory yard ! Such a pity to see it just rusting away !! Pretty sure it was built in Canada as it has a Canadian Military Pattern back end !! Shame it couldn't be saved !
Hi Johnathan - I find the rapid drying thinner makes the finish too "pebbly" and I want the finish to be as smooth as possible. I do find it good for spraying a flat clear finish though.
Tamiya acrylic and MLT thinner - sprays beautifully, no tip dry and self levelling - superb results! Stinky as hell, though, lol. Btw, I love these shorter videos - they cut to the chase! Describe a technique and demonstrate it in practice - lets us see it come together. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the banter but I just dont have the time. Not saying you have to do one or the other but mixing it up would be nice. 👍
Hello friends.. please keep doing these videos... maybe longer? What about a video tour of your garage? Of your studio? Of your Kits? Of your type of paints and accessories?
Another great show! I always find inspiration in the models at the Heritagecon events. Living in Hamilton, I think we sometimes take for granted how truly lucky we are to have a venue like the CWHM! 👍
Hey great show again. Yes built a Smith and Wesson 44 cal.to use in training demo presentations. People always thought is was a real weapon.Again this was the 1980's and it was used as a training aid for years. Thanks guys
I remember these kits. They were available here in the U.K. and I bought the Navy Colt and the Derringer when I was about 12yrs old. They were amazing kits and I really enjoed making them. Those were the good old days. Thanks for the memory and a really enjoyable video. Stay safe and stay well.
